Traps Stolen

Well my day just went down hill, I went to check my traps and someone stole all of them. I had permission from the land owner to set them on his pond for coon as long as they were live traps. I thought maybe he picked them up and he forgot about giving me permission, but when I asked him he had no clue and now I got him all worked up because someone else is been on his land without permission. What a day

know how you feel had the same thing happen a few months ago,went to check the traps all GONE.The best part some of the traps weren't even mine.

I was trapping on part of the lake here in Mtn. Home ar. and some guy stole my trap plus my coyote, will it really teed me off, and I thought about hiding and shoot the A--hole with No. 4 shot and then I thought is it worth shooting a bastard over a 9 dollar trap, so i pulled out, but he needed lesson.

Go back and set up some more traps. This time run a cable through them and lock them to a tree. Set up a trail camera and get the SOB on film that tries to steal them. Then before you go to the police, give it to the local news channel so everyone can see.

I left a note on the tree stateing that beings you like to take my traps lets see if you can find the bear trap I set for you and if your reading the fine print then your real close. Of course I don't own a bear trap, but they dont know that.

I'm assuming you are doing Nusiance Control Work, otherwise your trapping out of season. Have you checked with the Game Warden, he may have your traps. Did you have a trapper's tag on them with your name and address?

Back in the 70's, when any coon was $25, fox was $40, and bobcat was $200 I used to run my trap line out of a boat on Table Rock Lake in the Ozarks. I used to drive the boat with my rifle across my lap just in case I surprised a trap thief. Not that I was going to shoot them but I wanted to be able to shoot back if they started something. The old timer who taught me to trap caught a trap thief and didn't report him to anyone. He just went to his house and told him he had 48 hours to leave the country or die, and he was serious.

Just do what I did. Set your regular trap and set you a 22o coni or 280 coni and put it where they would likely put their hand. Leave your # there for them to call and have the state police go down there with you and prosicute them.

Its a body gripping trap mostly used for beaver,otter and mink size animals.
