Alright so I thought I share this new breed Ive been seeing around. A lady who walks her dogs at a local park that I hunt for coyote, claims to own a redtick/bluetick cross.
This Lady cracked me up! She said, with a straight face that her dog was half bluetick and half redtick. From what I understand those are basically the same breed, "English".
BTW, the dog looked like an Australian cattle dog that was wayyy over fed!
She then asked me what kinda hound I had, and when I replied with Bluetick, she then had the nerve to reply with "Oh Really? what is he mixed with?" She almost died. She then went on to ask if i bought him in Georgia or Tennessesse cause she was from Georgia and had only seen blueticks there.
There is also a Lady who lives near the park who claims to have a Half-rottweiler and half-bluetick but looks also like an over-fed cattle dog.
So Im going to petition the UKC to induct a new breed into its registy, called the "Junk Hound", which basically includes dogs that have ticked coloring, and are over weight, lol.
Sorry bout the rant, just thought I share my local experiences with ya'll for a laugh, I'll work on getting pics, its really something, lol.

plott, i know, lol, I know the bluetick breed split off from the english in the 40's I believe. But thats not the point, the point is that if you had seem this dog it looked nothing like a hound, no ears, no gait, no nose, no face, no loose skin, no short hair, just a really fat cattle dog! lol

Moonshiner, Don't you know that hunting in parks around here is illiegel, plus your not allowed to frecast a dog during April thru July, You shoud be careful, we houndsmen already have a bad image in Oregon. A kid getting pinched for hunting in a park with a hound would make the news for sure. The anti's would have a field day with that story. Not trying to bash on ya, Just trying to educate ya. Good luck with your dog.
