hound cut on downed rusted barb wire....
this happened over the weekend when he ran through some downed rusted barb wire while hunting. The cut is about a inch on his leg with no sign of infection. I have applied antibiotic ointment. Seems to be healing but is a lil swollen in the area........ I don't think a dog needs a tetnus shot like a person do they...I could be wrong
thanks, Robb

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God - 1 Corinthians 1:18 (NIV)

do not cover the wound 24/7 let the air get to the wound. by covering the wound you are providing an enviroment for anarobic bacteria and these bacterial infections can be much nastier than regular infections (an example is gheng green). use some cut n heal (can be purchased at most feed stores) and spray it on in the am or pm not both. this will help prevent flies and other pests from laying eggs in the wound.
