Good Job. I'm hearing its another good berry year? Maybe a little wet too? Seeing lots of bear? Just curious for some extra updates. I leave out on the fifth or sixth of next month for my annual trip to the vactionland! Starting to get excited. I'm due a total rain out! Keeping my fingers crossed for a late season drought up that way!

boy do I miss maine this time of year. Country looks the same  Have you ever tried hanging onion sacks from the tree? We found it keeps the bears around longer and opens up there vitals for the bow hunters.

Thanks guys for the comments,Yea the weather has been terrible this year it poors almost every day.Every thing i own is soaked. We have quite a few berries this year but the driving rain has nocked alot of them off.The bears are realy hammering the baits.Seems to be alot of them around.Good luck when you make your trip up here.Spanky thats a good idea with the onion bags thanks.I ran another bear yesterday it was along day i finaly got the last two dogs off it at7.00 PM.i saw the bear 5 times but seeing it and getting the dogs off it are two differant things. Its alot easyier if you can just shoot it LOL.I tried to get a couple pictures in the mourning but i dont now if they came out.I have to wait untile my daughter gets home to check them out.Icould of gotten some great pictures in the after noon but all i cared about was catching the dogs

I just got back from Maine, and had a great time. The bears were very hard to find late in the season, we did run a few, but they just did not want to tree. We did a lot of Grouse and dog hunting during the week.

Randy I didnt get any out of that litter that made good bear dogs.I do have one that I run on cats. Beardog treed were did you hunt in Maine? The bear were out late here in the western mountains, the baits were hit good right to the end.Your right about the bears being hard to tree though I found the same thing.I blamed it on my dogs being worn out. Here are some pictures from the end of the season.
Image
this is one the hunter missed in the tree and the dogs couldnt tree him again.
Image
this sow has three yearlings, they were steadies at this bait
Image
I thought this was a nice picture in the snow.
Image
This is the last tree of the season, nice sow with a big yearling,we let her go.
Image
This is Lightfoot Clyde a dog I bought from Jess kincaid on the last tree.Hes coming along good I think he is going to make a real nice dog.Bring on cat season.
