jason ,,, remember the long run we had last year -- lol i been running same bear - or maybe his twin --runs the same route -ran him 3 times - got outrun bad twice --- he just left them behind -
9+ hour race friday--- still got outrun but i thought dogs did all they could -
anytime got near dogs they were flying and barking hard --
i really dont belive a bear can run like that -- must be a bear hybrid - lol
whatever it is - leaves bear tracks -no idea what the rest looks like lol

Hey
Hey Pete,
I think that hybrid ran all the way to Utah! I chased him last weekend. You must have tired him out for me. He treed just long enough for me to get to the tree and then he was gone. Wish I would have had time to get the camera out cause if you've never seen a bear with track spikes...it's a site to see. He must have just needed to lace them up again cause when he came out he was GONE pronto.
Jason,
Hope your dogs heal up OK!

traveling back n forth from VT to UT ,, he may have been a little tired -
he might have taken a little side trip to buzz Nolte in wisconcin lmao
this is picture from last year- can see by picture its starting to change LOL, either that or was just too fast for camera --
may have treed same bear this year in june -pic on page 2 of this thread
-- treed 100 yards from where it treed last year --it did tree and dogs got there before track was too cold to run--so not sure was a hybrid bear - i dont have any pictures of the really fast ones lol
at the speed some of these little pukes can run , VT to UTAH would only take a few days -
few years ago i ran a bear straight line across several mountains in a couple hours--he ran about twice as far and fast as anything id consider normal -
pretty good road system amd every time i stopped to beep i was loosing ground in the truck lol
i gambled and i got one road ahead--- thats only way i got a look at it --
it came into road and ran straight down the road - looked like it was shifting gears- u just had to be there to appreciate the speed that thing could run-- he was headed west -- i hope he was headed for wisconcin or utah
ive run foxhounds and crosses before and i dont think ive ever seen a dog move as fast as that thing was going -not sure a greyhound could have caught it - i know my mutts couldnt on their best day -

Pete that dont sound like fun. Better wait till he grows up and puts weight on
Its funny how the dogs act you might get run out 3 or 4 times then next 3 or 4 times they tree and make it look simple.I don't explain I just report it

well , ranger treed a bear yesterday -
my buddy went and got him - said it was a small one
i was trying to keep track of 2 pups that were running sumfin lol
i know they started on a bear
never did find out what it was-- could have been a bear-
they ran it till dark - didnt find any evidence that it wasnt a bear -lol
they" laid up " top of mountain about dark
-
im sorta doubtful bout these herds of bear but it happens sometimes -lol
we had dogs scattered - opposite directions
- ran 4 different tracks all from same strike -
gary caught jenny and spice just before dark , just walking bear along -
stayed at camp got laid in pups today -
seems like they had lost about a third their weight
- whatever they ran - they wernt foolin - lol
first real run for both of them --

Looks like ya got some good runs in this weekend pete
.I had a good run on friday started one out of the corn. I got to see it cross road a couple of times. We ended up treeing it 3 times it just wouldnt stay up finally the 3rd time it started coming down the tree and i didnt have the dogs tied back. i told guy with me to shoot it in the head he made a great shot and it was dead instantly. It was a great hunt action all day long.
We didnt get any still pics of the bear before we skinned it out. But here is one of jeff and his daughter after we skinned it out bear weight 218 lbs
Treed another bear on saterday probably 150 lbs started to tie a dog back and it bailed out of tree it was 30 feet up when we got there ran rest of thee day in a roadless area. had to get most of them back next day (sunday) My dogs ran the bear only a few hundred yards away from a couple of other guys dogs that were treeing a bear.I thought for sure my dogs were going to end up with theres but they kept running there own track and treed it.Those other guys had a nice bear treed ended up weighing 341lbs I always end up on the small tracks
