BLUE EYED HOUNDS

Post by mike martell »

JUST SPOKE WITH A GOOD FRIEND IN OHIO. HE JUST HAD A LITTER OF PUPS FROM A OLD LINE BRED STRAIN OF WALKERS. HE HAS TWO PUPS THAT HAVE BLUE EYES. IN 36 YEARS OF HOUND HUNTING NEVER HAVE I SEEN A HOUND THAT HAD BLUE EYES. ANY BREED FOR THAT MATTER. JUST LOOKING FOR SOME FEED BACK HERE. AS I'M STUMPED. SPOKE ABOUT THIS TO ANOTHER FRIEND, HE JUST SAW A HEAVY LINE BRED CAMERON CROSS JUST MADE . THE GUY HAS BRED THEM HIMSELF FOR 20 YEARS. LINE BREEDING AND ALL OF A SUDDEN HE GETS A PUP WITH BLUE EYES? BEFORE I JUMP TO CONCLUSIONS, WOULD APPRECIATE SOME FEED BACK, I'M JUST A SKEPTIC, THINKING THEY ARE NOT FULL HOUND. THANKS

There is a guy on this site that I remember posted about his pups coming out with Blues eyes and instead of the patches being black in color they were silver.

I'm sure you can do a search to find it he had pictures on the thread. I think it was about 6-9 months ago

I've had a few blue eyed blueticks. They were Cameron bred. Matter of fact I have 2 right now out of my last litter. I also have a blue female coming from Montana that has both eyes blue.

BLUE EYES

Post by mike martell »

THANKS GUYS FOR THE INFORMATION. GOING A LITTLE FURTHER WITH THIS THING, THE REASON BEING IS BECAUSE THIS FRIEND IS SAVING ME A PUP. I HAVE HAND WRITTEN PEDIGREES ON MY DOGS DATING BACK TO 1927 BEFORE U.K.C. I ONLY BREED THIS STRAIN OF DOGS PERIOD. I KNOW THAT A RUNNING DOG NAMED RED LIQUOR AND A VAUGHN BRED BLUETICK IS IN THERE. AROUND 1930'S. BUT I WANT TO BE SURE OF THE DOGS BEING FULL WALKER HOUND. I SEE A LOT OF TICKS ON THIS STRAIN ,BUT DON'T KNOW WHERE THE BLUE EYES COME FROM. ALL YOU BLUETICK GUYS MAYBE CAN ANSWER THIS QUESTION . BEFOR THEY WERE CAMERON'S WERN'T THEY OF THE VAUGHN LINE?

One blue eye... and she comes from a line of dryground dogs.. pretty sure she's all hound..

The double bred Mountain Music Blues ( Diamond Jim's) background had a number of blue eyes show up. Also some of the old Chalk eye Strain blues also would throw a blue eye now and then. I have had one in a cross of Jeff Allen walker and Goswick Redtick hound. this dog came nearly white with some buttermilk orange spots on his ear and tail base was orange. This dog named Ace was lost in the Wickenburg area several years ago so if anybody runs onto a blue eyed mostly white hound leggy and pretty houndy let me know.

Oh I had several out of Dale lee's Joe dog that had a blue eye. Also Steve Smith famous Arizona dry ground hunter's two main male dogs over the past couple of years. Moonshine and Popeye have a blue one and they both trace back to Pig. Which I belive Richard Holcomb of Nevada had that went back to his ex-fatheri n law Bruce Bull's dogs who were suppose to be Evans ( Slash) bred.

That female there is out of one of Steve Smiths dogs that Riley Miller bought... do you know which one that would be Mike?

Not sure all of Steve's females look alike to me. Little bench legged blue dogs that were dirty cold nosed trailing machines.

My Walker's always seem to throw a blue eyed pup in each litter.. And they have for generations.. They were all registered up until about 2 generations ago.. But I know the guys who have been breeding them and they would not allow anything but Walker in their dogs...

I see it a lot in blueticks.. And the Clover bred Walkers seem to throw it a lot also...
