Bears fall 2008

Went to Alaska, hunted Aug 31, training only and caught 1. we were happy with 2 dogs. we only had one good strike and we caught that one with no damage to the dogs.



Not so good had camera troubles

Went back on Tuesday and caught another, Two strikes but only able to tree once.




These 2 hounds are bred now Dixie is due Sept 25, we are excited for this litter, the last pups she had are doing real well.

Bender had a big pout on today- missing Dixie Daisy, you or mad I went to work instead of hunting. Ended up in Staney doing re-gen and road condition surveys- saw 7 bear ( 2 sows with 2 cubs and one 4 year old unknown) all up high in the blueberries. The LEO's had a blast with their decoy bear, caught a bunch of flatlanders and had the district ranger drive up to it! We are not on video but they are saving the audio!

I talked to the LEO on the ferry, he told me they were successful several times and that they were trying to get more help for the island. He said the problem was new shooters every week. Some of the road/bridge hunters we saw were on the ferry with us, i never noticed them getting too close to the warden. Dixie is still eyeballing me and she stares at the gate any time she is out. By the way she checked the cat as soon as we got home, so they do remember. Ben working my bottom off since getting home, cut a tree out of David's house today after blow from IKE, everyone is good and hoping for more bear hunting soon.
