What are some descent bloodlines of the old fashion b&t's? Just looking for a little info. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are only a few lines of the old style of Black and Tan. There are some that you definitely do NOT want, but I'm not going to bash those people. not only that, but it would take more typing than my super slow fingers are capable of.

Yes, they are. I spoke with them about a month ago. They are done. There are a couple of others out there who do hunt them still, but some of them are pretty secretive and hard to deal with.

Old fashioned b&t

Post by papa »

Don't know that they qualify as "old fashioned" or not, but I was wondering if anyone knew of the "ranger" line of dogs. I had one years ago from a man in Phoenix, Az. Last I heard was that someone named McDonald in Texas may have ended up with the blood line. Super cold nose, tons of want to, not a whole lot of grit, in the one I had. He sure unravelled a lot of cold tracks for me.
when in doubt turn em out

They are not old fashioned, Mr Cosner (maple Hill) told me one time he sold a dog or 2 to John. That was told to me 20 yrs ago. I did ask John about it a couple of yrs ago and he really didn't remember, but it was possible. If he did it would have been 35-40 yrs by now. McDonald is still around, last I heard he had 3 hounds for sale. He had some good dogs out of some of his lines. The one I had was about 75-80 pounds and very houndy looking with a lot of tree.

John McDonald of Alba, Texas has three young male out of my Rip dog that are running and treeing. He has taken them by themselves and has treed coon. All have good mouths and will get on the wood. He will probably keep one for himself. Give him a call at 1-903-765-2601. He has priced them at $1,000 each and they are worth every penny.
