oral antibotics

Post by southwestwalkers »

just wondering if you have to go to a vet to get this for the dogs or could you hit the feed store?

Thanks, Robb

Depends on what you are looking for.

We have on hand cephalexin and amoxicillin that we did get from a vet. Our vet just let us buy some so we didn't have to drag the dogs down every single time something happened (though one vet did have a "Brisco proof" kennel and even put a nameplate up for him)

Injectable Penacillion I don't keep on hand, but live about 10 minutes away from the feed store that does. I should have it.. but I don't...

I also have Teramyacin on hand for eyes.. That came from the feed store...

I say go to a couple of feed stores, check what they have and get some of the penicillin and some syringes. Its better to be safe than sorry and the bottle of pen takes up about a coke cans worth of space in your fridge. If the vets let you buy some oral antibiotics buy them.
