concrete slab?
I would like to know what is the best finish to put on a slab under kennels? smooth cleans well but is it too slick for dogs to stand on Rough has better traction but is harder to clean. Any thoughts??

I can assure you from expierence, put the trowel machine on it. I've used both. I would much rather use the slick. My current kennels were poured the same day they poured our new house. I had them use the trowel machine on it. I have been there for 3 years now. I am very glad I had it done that way. It is very fast to clean pens out. I have never had an issue with dogs loosing traction. Put no less than a 2" fall for every 10'. I would really recommend about a 3 1/2" fall per 10'. You'll be very satisfied if you go that route.
Good luck,

Forget kennels all together. Fence in the largest area you can and let them run on natural dirt and rocks. You'll never have another foot problem because of sore feet. I put my dogs in a one acre run about ten years ago and keep them all together. No barking because they are bored, no more foot problems because they sit in a kennel all day with no excersise. No having to clean and wash the dog run every day and only one water bucket to clean and fill up. I could go on and on. It's the best thing I've ever done for them. Much happier and healthy dogs.

I do plan on having a run pen to turn out during the day but I need kennels for my wife's border collies so I am going to put up kennels and a 1/4 acre run pen. I dug in water lines this week and hope to pour mud next week I still have not decide what kind of finish to put on the slab maybe a very light broom with about 4" fall in 16 feet?
