Don't know anything about trapping mink, but they use dogs to catch them in Ireland.

they travel almost all waterways,look for natural holes or places they would crawl under,mink are curious and check almost all holes etc.
you can also dig small holes at waters edge 3-4 inches in dia. 6-8 inches deep place bait at bottom of hole,set #1 or larger leghold just under water surface in front of hole. good luck

Odd question for this site. Where are you trapping? Mink are like cats, where you find tracks they will be back (unless someone else caught him), they like to hug edges, and frequent familiar haunts.
