I live in southern va and bears are makink a come back here. there is a season for them and i have started to find a hand sized tracks behind my house along the creek. and sightings confirm that it is a bear. iv never hunted bear is a handsized track big? how would i hunt him i need some advice.

If you can make out the front pad and it is wider than your palm its probably a good bear. Any front pad over 5 inches across is a big bear. Just my experience in the AZ region.

Does your part of Va. have a season for Bear. If so, find out what he's eating and put up a tree stand over the food source. Can it be hunted with hounds?? If so, find a hound hunter in your area and ask him/her about bringing the hounds to that area and hunting that way.
