Catman, I've hunted with the same dog you speak of, and I own her sister. Too bad though, ol Cindy got killed by a bear this year.

Fastest dog I have ever seen on a rough track was a Bluetick running walker cross. It wasn't my dog, but she started the track with my dogs and left them standing still.

running walkers - julys- triggs-whatever you want to call them--
by far are the fastest ive seen -- and able to do it days in arow
very few are great cold trailers or great tree dogs

had one running walker female that made almost
everything she ran with look slow- she didnt just run air either-

good track dog
-lots of mouth - she was about twice the speed of anything me or my friends were running on coyote --

was hit by a car broken pelvis etc- -- slowed her down-- and still fast lol

seen a few treeing walkers that were very fast

on a nike type bear they left everything behind - those 2 might run with average foxhounds for most of one day--

and would need to rest for 3 days after - :)
\

had some crossbred walker and running dogs -- fast and could do it days in a row - gave up a little nose and tree power but were good dogs

i voted walkers but the slowest dog ive ever seen was a walker :D

most the bluticks ive seen were slow- but the fastest ive seen might equal the fastest walker

i didnt run them together -same place ,same time-

i dont think you can say any
breed is fastest -
but
its probably easier to get or find fast walkers

- in tree hounds -

i like what broncobill said -- :D

On any given day, the fastest hound will be the hound that is in front.

It may change the next day or in different company.

Bill

thats the truth :)

had a sorta sway backed , wing shouldered walker once-

most desire ive ever seen in a hound- one of fastest but sure wasnt
because he was built for it - lol
almost kill himself to catch a bear before he ever got to it -

sometimes tried to choke bear by crawling down its throat--

spent half his short life recuperating from injuries and died at 3

not too practical --- i wish i could bottle his desire and speed

and give it out in drops :)

I hope this doesn't make anybody mad but here goes.We all know that all breeds have all different types of hounds. The running hounds have good and bad as do the treeing hounds. I haven't seen much for treeing blood keep up with our running stuff but on the other side i haven't seen our running stuff take a track that was left at dark and restarted in the morning.I think the treeing hounds have better noses for some reason that i can't explain and we've tried crosses but nothing worked out.I'm trying these Goodmans looking for a better nose.Just my opinion.Doesn't mean it's right for you fellas.
A running hound is the music the angels stoop to hear.

The fastest dog is the one in front.
