High Priced Bear Dogs

Post by Borderpond »

Whats the most you guys have actually known that a bear dog has sold for ?? I dont mean heard the rumours of, or some kind of a deal that involved trades or something.I mean cash actually paid. I have seen $7000 once. I bought a couple for close to $3000 each.

The $7000 one I mentioned was a freebie.A guy I used to run with had it given to him.She went from freebie to $7000 in 2 seasons !!

Well, I'm glad to hear the price or value of a good bear hound is so high cause I wouldn't consider turning one of my best hounds loose for any price. Seriously, if a guy invests five or six years of his life in a hound how does he ever get that back in the form of dollars? Hell sakes, I'd feel like a trader to sell one of my old hounds for cash, a hound that had been a hunting buddy for so long, one that had weathered the storm and proven his worth to me .........

DALE BURNSIDE SOLD HIS RIG DOG TO A JAPANESE HUNTER FOR FORTY THOUSAND. THIS WAS MANY YEARS AGO BUT REMAINS THE HIGHEST PRICE PAID THAT I KNOW OF FOR A BEAR DOG.

We turned down $10,000 for Korn when he was seven years old. That was tough! Glad we did though.

I know of a bear dog that was sold for 8 thousand cash. He was a nice dog but had his faults.

I agree with Ike on the part of not being able to sell one after putting it all on the line. I know thats what they are bred to do but heck, they are more loyal than some people. Besides that good dogs are to hard to make when you have to work 5 days a week....
