People still shock me sometimes

Post by huntress »

Ok, let me preface by saying this is a vent, pure and simple.....
I went out to the family ranch today to check on my horses, as I was out hunting all day yesterday (we had a blast, got bluffed out on a bob and treed a long tail), and someone had stolen a bunch of stuff out of the barn! Last week they siphoned all of the fuel out of the vehicles, this week they stole vehicle batteries and a bunch of grooming tools, halters, a back pack weed sprayer, and two plastic totes to carry all their "treasures" back up to the road from the barn. None of it was terribly expensive, unless you add it all up to replace it. I feel violated and mad- people still shock me sometimes..... Jerks! :(

Sounds like they'll be back! Get yourself a trail cam and hide it well, get their pics!

Myself.......I'd be inclined to wire 110v to some metal item they'll prolly want to steal next.......

We had the same problem at our ranch so we got fuel containers and in the gas container added enough deisel to it so that it still had the gas smell and did the same to the deisel container. Left on the bed of one of the trucks and went away for the weekend. When we got back we knew who was the culprit.

Ya, I have to admit, the vengeful part of me is trying to scheme some way of getting them when they come back! I would like nothing more than to light their asses up!
We talked about a trail cam, but worry that they will just steal it, too! LOL It would be just our luck....

Fill a gas can 1/2 and 1/2 with 7up and gas. Should do the trick.

I liked the 110 idea but you should look into picking up a motion activated video camera cause it would be lots of fun to watch.......

I knew an old lion hunter from New Mexico that was having a theft problem. He lived a ways from the closest neighbors maybe 1/2 mile but he had the habit of leaving saddles and tack and other stuff out on the corral fence and some was missing. Well he had a special old Porter saddle that he really liked and he just was so mad that he had left it out but it was his land and people were suppose to respect that. Well evidently somebody saw it, and helped themselves. Now this fella was a dead shot with his long barreled Ruger 44 magnum. I mean I had been hunting with him and saw him shoot and he could hit a beer can at 100 yards with that old gun about every time. Well he is telling me about this later and I couldn't help but laugh. He got this plan in his head. He went down to one of the pawn shops and got himslef one of those cheap nickel silver mounted show saddles. Not much good but really shiney and sort of black leather and all. He threw it up on the corral poles so it could be seen a long ways and he screwed a big old lag bolt down thru it into the corral so you couldn't pull it off. He then got some wire and rigged up an electic fence charger to it and had it so when they grabbed the horn and under the cantle they would get a heck of a jolt of 110. He had a pretty good idea who it was but he wanted to teach them a lesson and also wanted his Porter back.

Well he let it set out there all day and hid his trucks and such in the barn like everybody was gone. He then got on his covered patio with a glass sliding door and proceeded to empty a good sized jug of Jack Daniels while he enjoyed the sunset.Well just as it was getting pretty hard to see and he left his lights out he thought he saw something so he stood by and by this time he had a pretty good buzz going. All of a sudden he hears a scream, and he throws on the big light and her is this guy trying like heck to get loose from that saddle. Well hge falls lose and hits the ground and about this time here comes our mad old hunter with his big old 44 magnum in one hand and a bottler of Jack Daniels in the other. He levels it on this guy and cocks the hammer. I am going to ask you one time and he says the guys name did you steal my saddle and if you lie I am going to kill you right here. Well? Ahh Ahhh Ahhj Boom! the 44 goes off but it splits a rail about 4 foot to the side of the guy. Damn I missed hollered this guy, guess I'm drunker than I thought you miserable SOB did you steal my saddle? YES! YES! OH Gawd don't shoot me. I will bring it right back. Hurry was all he said and anything else you took it better be here in 10 minutes. Well the guy runs off and in a short he is back with saddles and bridles and blankets and halter and stuff he didn't even know he was missing. Now he said I am going to continue to leave my stuff out on that fence just like always. And if any of it ends up missing again I am going to finish this deal. So you being my best and closest neighbor now you better make damn sure nobody comes around here and steals anything. Far as I know he never lost another thing.

Course this might get some folks throwed in jail, but this guys reputation was such that I am sure the law would have understood a little evening target practice on his own land. LOL!

Well good on you but dang that jab about the Pendelton. We can't get it here. Nope some kind of a restriction I guess. Oh well maybe Shorty or my buddy from Idaho will bring me a care package some day soon.

Makes for a fine sunset! LOL!
