Mike,

You should get one of those bio-diesel fuel thing er jigs Mike. I hear you can make a gallon of bio fuel from used grease for around .90 cents a gallon. All you need is the machine, a place to store it and work, and lots of free grease...........

The stuff smells alot better as well..........

somebody has to pay road tax or we wouldn't have any place to drive............

i agree-

need money to maintain roads

but i heard that since fuel is so cheap--

they are going to double the tax on it--

there is no way that taxes should be 1/3 the price of gas-- or anything else -

if they get their increase it will be 50% at these prices-

----------have you ever drove by road construction and seen these state guys "working" on the road-

in this state--- its always about 5 watching and 1 working- sometimes much worse than that -

-- not as bad when its a town crew- especially in a small town--

they have some accountability-cause we know them -

none of that BS ,if its a private company under contract-

if they dont operate efficiently , they are out of business

they do same jobs in half the time here -

if your gonna tax me to death-- quit wasting the money -

dont waste it and just raise more with more taxes- -

Parker Drilling Company broke me out drilling back in the stone age, and we ran a six man crew. One day my crew was nippling up the blow out preventers and all six of us were gathered round that thing a working.

The stack we used on that rig was a thirteen inch, ten thousand pound BOPE, and there are probably two or three dozen bolts on each flange, with several dozen breaks. After putting them all in we had to use a twelve or sixteen pound hammer and hammer wrench to tighten those flanges so they would test to 5000 psi......

When the hammering part started, often times two would work and two or more would watch, and I suppose that if a passer by didn't stay long they'd think those two weren't doing anything. However, we'd always switch off and soon the watchers would be swinging that hammer.

I guess you see where I'm going there don't you Pete.....cause now days if someone ask me to swing a hammer like that I'd tell them to take a flying kiss at my backside...........

ike-- on some jobs here--- they take turns --leaning on the shovel- :D

ok ,maybe im picking on state guys--

it seems that any state or government job-- there is a lot of money/time wasted-

private companies dont operate that way- and stay in business

unless they are a bank or a car manufacturer- then the govenment can bail them out and just raise taxes to do it-

cant keep raising taxes every time somebodies short of money - :)

towns often spend money to get state or federal money----matching funds-

that money isnt free-

one guy said to me----whats the problem ?

just print more money--- im afraid they will probably try that next

a billion here and a trillion there and pretty soon u are talking about real money- :)

far as i know ,the goverment doesnt earn any money, except by raising taxes , but they are full time in the business of spending it- spending more than they take in every year- so its never ending cycle of raising more taxes

the whole country is hurting - need some time to recover from the high prices -

fuels been down a few months and they are already talking huge increases in the tax on it-- im ok with that -- if they will drop those taxes when prices go back up-

have you ever heard of them giveing up a tax-- lol

nyways - every time i buy gas now-- it seems like im stealing it--

at 4$ it seemed like i was getting robbed

- lol

I won't argue with any of that, but it did look like you were picking on the state boys. However, you're not alone and everybody is welcome to their own opinion. The public sector does need oversight thought, and the state or federal government can't just urn companies loose to do what they want or the public would be in alot of trouble Pete.

Take for example the highway patrol. If it wasn't for law enforcement the people that are driving 85 and 90 on the Interstate Highways in a 75 mile zone would be driving how fast? And when those crazy bastards have a wreck, who would drag them out of the car and call the ambulance.....the public? There are plenty of things to say bad about any group of people...but it doesn't mean they aren't needed or or any less than the rest of us.........

And by the way Pete, there has been a time or two I had wished one of those Highway Patrol had been leaning on a shovel rather than running me down.......

And no, they aren't very god about giving back money or getting rid of bad laws..........but then I can't remember when they asked me what I thought either!

keep'em treed,
ike

I know this is off topic- but- on the subject of gas taxes, I have always thought that the gas tax was based on a gallon and not by the dollar value of that gallon. If this is true then the excuse of raising the taxes because it is so cheap will not fly. - I must be wrong-

gas taxes are by the gallon--
they lost money when prices were high - :(

they never call it money---its funds, revenue etc --
:)

i say ,, that they didnt lose money---

we paid the tax on what we used-- but they are short on fundage lol

so lets raise taxes --- :D if they sneak it into the price on the pumps---

maybe you wont notice- or blame it on somebody else- lol

federal, state and local gas taxes costs American drivers an average of 45.9 cents on every gallon purchased... In some states the combined taxes exceed 60 cents for every gallon purchased

say its 60 cents and price is 1.80 - one third for taxes is just too much - can u imagine if your sales tax was 33% -

this is about the federal tax

n mid-January, the congressionally created National Surface Transportation Policy and Revenue Commission released its final report, which, among other proposals, recommends raising the federal fuel tax by 25 cents to 40 cents per gallon over the next five years and thereafter indexing it to the rate of inflation.[1] With the federal fuel tax at 18.3 cents per gallon of gasoline and 22.4 cents per gallon of diesel fuel, the commission is proposing that one of the nation's most regressive taxes be increased by a staggering 136 percent to 218 percent. These tax revenues would then be spent on a variety of new road, transit, administrative, and environmental initiatives, including a 700 percent increase in Amtrak subsidies.

if you want to get a laugh--- or get real mad--- read the following link-
\\

state of vermont is worried about gas or diesel that comes here from other states in the tanks of cars shipped here-

maybe they should make u dump your tanks when u DRIVE across state lines-- and refuel --- -

its just ridiculous--

I think we're paying a $1.66????????

It's funny how easy it is to remember when you're paying $4.00 a gallon and how little we pay attention when it's less than $2.00..........
