mulemanbl wrote:Nice job, Ike. I had my mutts out on Tuesday. They struck and headed for the ledges. After a while I called em off and worked our way down the ridge with no luck. Out here in the Great Salt Lake Desert, we need them Gods to show us a little also.
Yup, a guy does need a little help from the hunting gods from time to time. So did you have a lion going or bobcat?
I went out the other day for a few hours looking for a bober. The day old snow was about gone but I found several tracks, put three dogs out and they ran the track better in the snow than on the dirt. These days I just don't have the tolerance for a slow track.....cause if those dogs want to stay out they better start warming things up pretty fast or I call'em back as well...........
Bout the only way I'll stay on a slow lion track is if I have a client and the track shows killer tom or I just don't have anything better to do.
Better luck on the the next trip,
ike
