Hey boys, sorry I got so worked up. Yeah, you're right Luke, everybody is an authority. Haven't been out cat hunting much, waiting on some weather. Scott, l love that picture of your pup. He grew up fast, and looks like he turned into a great hound. I'm up for a cat hunt anytime. Keep me posted on how your season is going. Here's a picture for all you California yuppies. Merry Christmas everyone!

rigdogs, do you know drego personally, because if not, it looks to me as if you might have based your response on false assumptions. If you know him personally, and know that he meant his post the way you took it, then it seems to me that it would have been better to have given him your response personally.
If you don't know him personally, then lets look at what we do know about him.
1. He is new to the board, joined in sept.
2. he hasn't posted much, this was his third post.
3. he is not familiar with jack russels, he wasn't even sure those were jack russels.
4. he didn't know jack russels were hunting dogs.
5. he admitted that he doesn't know anything about jack russels and that he thought that they were lap dogs.
At this point I want to make clear that I do not personally know any of the people involved in this post to this point, but here is my question for you rigdogs. If you were new to a sport, and didn't know alot about it, and you asked someone a question in an effort to learn more about that sport, and they responded by calling you a "bitch", how would you view people involved in that sport? Would that make you want to continue to try to learn about the sport? How would you vote the next time you had a chance to express your opinion about people in that sport at the ballot box?
Or look at it another way. If you were new to the sport and reading one of these forums, and you read this thread, and you interpreted drego's post the way I did, and then you read your response. How would you view people involved in this sport? Would that make you want to continue to try to learn about this sport? How would you vote the next time you had a chance to express your opinion about people in this sport at the ballot box?
If you are correct in your interpretation of his post, then he is not likely to change and you will have plenty of opportunity to express your opinion of him in the future. However, if you misinterpreted his post, then congradulations, you have just given the anti's another vote next time hunting with hounds is on the ballot.
I don't know if you have noticed or not, but if we give away to many more votes, then we will not be legally hunting much longer.

Bronco Billy,
You are right that I didn't handle that in the most mature manner.
That being said, I don't need you or anyone else playing babysitter for me. This isn't my first day with this hound hunting game. I don't know Drego but I have read his 3 posts. Have you? I would imagine you read the only 1 that comes up. Now why would it say 3 and only show 1? I guess because he's a shit talking pile of crap that had his other 2 taken off here for inappropriate content. Nuff said about that. In the future maybe we both should PM the person we are trying teach a lesson. That way the forum isn't cluttered with this kind of crap. Read my previous posts, I'm actually a pretty level headed guy. I'm also the kind of guy that doesn't appreciate you calling me out like a kid. Carry on.

wow! sorry for the confusion boys, I thought you all had a better sense of humor. I really do have a no-bruder-good-in-law in california that has the no-grit jack russels. His dogs must be a different breed; I know HE is! I do love the christmas outfits. Nothing yuppie about that! From now on I'll keep my jack russel comments to the jack russel forum. Happy hunting!

One of my good friends has a male a female set of Black and Tan pups. The male is doing really good as a young hound. He's training them as hog dogs. I don't have any recent pics but here are 2 pictures of them when they were younger.
Here a picture of the male dog nowadays. He's a real good dog for his age.

I believe that is the sister to my female pup. I own the father to that litter. I had mine on two treed bear this weekend. She is really turning out good. She is a natural tree dog like all of the dogs out of Bandit. She got bitten in the neck Saturday on this bear in the picture. The bear destroyed the tracking collar and put a pretty good hole in her neck but she was on the wood when we got to the tree.
This bear was started by a dog out of an earlier cross out of the same father and he turned one year old saturday. It was really nice to see the father, 12 month old son and 7 month old daughter all locked on to the tree.
Here is a picture of her. I forgot my camera in the truck so the guys who helped us drag it out brought in a camera but it was already on the ground so I didn't get any treeing pictures

Hey rigdogs, how well can the terriers keep up with the hounds? I had thought about getting a jack russel or a jagdterrier but i wasnt sure if they could keep up real well.
Thanks

Re: Any pics of big game Black and Tans?
Wiblueboy,
We have two female terriers, one is a jack russell and one is a parsons russell. The parsons has the long fuzzy hair and has to be shaved during bear season, because it gets so hot here.
The jack female has real smooth hair and does much better in the heat. They both are awesome on any game but because they are so stubby they don't do real well in long races.
They are deluxe in a bay up and can move through thick brush much better than the hounds. I have not hunted them on much other than bears and small game, but I think they might even make pretty good bird dogs. I know they are hard on barn cats and pack rats! They even have one of the neighbors peacocks under their belt.
hope that helps and good luck
