right behind the house a few mins ago.Had went and put shocker on a mouthy pup was satrted back and he struck at me.That will teach me to stumble around in the dark

I was bear huntin one nite and we turned the lights off and listened to the dogs for a min then i heard leaves movein behind me turned around and shined my light and there was a rattle snake 6 inches from my leg ready to strike scared the crap out of me

Maybe that's what the pup was barking about. My female blue can't stand snakes outdoors. Funny, we have a Burmese python that could swallow her without even trying and she doesn't get upset when she sees it but a snake outside on the ground, even a little foot-long one gets her bawling and running around it like it is the most horrible thing on the planet. It's like she goes into a panic but can't take her eyes off it and she won't let anyone else near it.

Man that is scary. Those can not only cause us lots of trouble, but they can sure kill a good hound.
