PORTABLE DOG HOUSES
I do alot of traveling/camping with my hounds. Any ideas on good portable doghouses? I keep the dogs in the dog box while traveling and want to use the the doghouses for chaining them up to at nights. Thought of taking a standard 2x3' plywood doghouse, but making the top half slide down over the bottom half to make them half the size when traveling.

build them with removable roof - each one an inch smaller-
fit inside each other-
with a battery drill and screws
remove the roof when traveling -
if u used screws with a hex head and a nut driver on your drill -
it really only takes seconds to take one all the way apart and lay flat and u dont get stripped screws - lol
if they only need house to stay out of rain and mud - its not cold out
- only need 3 pieces of plywood to make floor and sort of an A frame-
now if somebody wanted to be real creative i bet he could join plywood with hinges or even make his own hinges out of some scrap rubber and make fold up 3 sided dog houses - lol
ive used plastic barrels alot for temp dog houses-- take lots of room to haul but weigh almost nothing --- always wished they made them stackable--- like 5 gallon pails - lol
another option is large tarp --------make a huge tent -

Plastic totes with a hole cut in the side work well. They stack inside eachother and are easy to clean. The best part is they are cheap ten bucks if you watch the paper for a sale. A minute or two with a saws all or a power saw and you are set they look like they might be to small but i have a couple of horses for dogs and they fit just fine. Oh ya they are leak proof in the rain too.

I camp out with mine frequently
I sleep in a hammock, with a big tarp overhead if the weather's bad. I tie the hammock to 2 trees, chain the hound to one of the trees, and share the area under the tarp with them. Helps protect me from bears and porcupines.

Well in my search of the net for portable doghouses, I stumbeled across a few that I thought I would share. Can you beleive people actually buy these things!!
First doghouse is an all inflatable one. Kinda along the lines of a blow up doll I guess. It's only $99. Guaranteed not to leak as long as your dog doesn't chew the hell out of it.
And then my favorite, this dirt covered doghouse for sale for a mere $310 what a deal huh?
I wonder if they would have a tendency to piss on this house????....

A more Humane answer to house your pets during Summer & Winter!
This two in one, doghouse growing planter can hold up to approximately 60 plants and uses 3 cubit ft of growing matter. Garden Lover's can plant their favorite foliage, herbs and ground coverings.
A New revolutionary Patent Pending idea to protect and house your pet!
The two- piece durable polyethylene stain- resistant plastic, can house up to two or three large breed dogs.
The dog house stays warm in the winter time. When outside temperatures were 35 degrees, the inside temperature registered at 55 degrees.
The aesthetically pleasing appearance of this doghouse protects your doggies from rain, sun and heat. Inside temperature reads 14 to 20 degrees cooler in the summer heat due to the evapotranspiration (loss of water from the soil both by evaporation and by transpiration from the plants growing thereon.)

I have been Making Portable Dog/Hound Kennels, Built over a 6'-3" Wide X 12' Long Light Weight Trailer. By removing 6 pins you can Slide off the Kennel onto your concrete pad when at home. It has Metal Roof and the rear has 3 sides with 6' High Chainlink Fence and Gate, the enclosed area is 6' X 3'-8" x 6' High and is Insulated. The Water System is a 30 Gal tank that is above the enclosed Area. The Fenced Kennel area is 8' Long X 6' Wide X 6' High and is covered by the Metal Roof. I have hade 6 Big Hounds in it and they Travel Great.. At Night you can put the hounds in the Enclosed area and you can sleep in the Covered Kennel area on a Cot. PS All of our hounds are House Broke so they will not use the kennel unless its an Emerg. Heck they won't go in their on a Chain eather..

I have thught building something similar to this............I know a guy who built something along the same concept....With our high heats and high humidity here in Alabama, his Labs are comfortable in the summer as it is cool in the dog house........Human Houses built like that concept around here are not that rare either.
I think that dog house you posted a pic of looks funny as hell, but the concept of it does have it's advantage.

Dont have room
I dont have room to haul around dogs box so I strap the kennel cage on the truck. I just pick up 2 more panels 6x10 and have 4 6x6 panels. Put them together and you have a place to let the dogs lay around and enjoy themselfs. Been doing it for the last 2 years and with the new cargo trailer I just pick up I have room to put the 6x10 and they you go. Still cheap total cost for each panel was 75 (6x6) and the 6x10 were 25 both from a buddy.

Your could easily build your portable kennel trailer with a dog box at one end and build your panels taller than how this dog trailer panels were done.
This is what I did on my portable.....I didn't want an enclosed back end so I left it open to be able to haul stuff as well. It could have be done on a larger scale but I do not see me needing the extra room (I am sure down the road I'll be kicking myself for not doing it on a larger scale.)

Those are nice Drew !! I was just thinking in a Muilt Fuction route an easy switch over from Road to Home.. and it sells for around $4,000.. Plus I make and sell 2 or 3 sided kennels that bolt to the 4 sided kennel thus you can keep adding on..
P.S. I do have a real "Salary Job" but its just sitting on my butt all day at home unless I have a meeting to go to.. So I need to do extra things to keep my butt going.. Besides Trainnig Pups..
