FOUR WHEELERS WITH TRACKS?

I HAVE A FOUR WHEELER THAT I WAS CONSIDERING PUTTING TRACKS ON. I HAVE HAD NO EXPERIENCE WITH THIS KIND OF OVER THE SNOW VEHICLE. HAS ANYONE ON THIS SITE USED THESE? HOW WELL DO THEY WORK AND WHAT KIND OF TRACKS WOULD YOU RECOMEND?

never used them on a four wheeler but they sure work good on a rhino. They take us about anywhere we want to go.

I HAVE HEARD OF A FEW PEOPLE PUTTING TRACKS ON THE RINO. I WAS HOPEING TO GET SOMEONE WITH SOME FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE TO GIVE ME SOME IDEAS. I KNOW A NEW RINO WITH TRACKS WOULD SET ME BACK A LOT OF FROG SKINS. I SCANNED A FEW SITES THAT SELL THE TRACKS BUT THERE NOT GOING TO TELL YOU ANYTHING BAD ABOUT THERE PRODUCT. I TALKED TO A GUY A FEW YEARS AGO AND HE SAID HE HAD SOME PUT ON HIS POLARIS. HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT IT WOULD NOT HOLD UP AND WAS ALWAYS BREAKING DOWN.

ARE THESE TRACKS MAINLY FOR GROOMED TRAILS OR CAN YOU TAKE THEM IN THE DEEP POWDER AND CLIMB HILLS?

We have talked about this topic before so here is a update. I had a 660 grizzly with TJD tracks on it. I now have a 700 grizzly with the same TJD tracks on it, i love the power stearing and the extra power of the 700. I have had sleds and i think as a all around unit that will go on dirt of snow, has a winch when you get stuck,and is able to haul the hounds anywhere i go this is a very practical set-up. This is the 4 th winter with these same tracks and they are still in good shape and have never broken down.I don't know how many miles on them but unless your an outfitter and hunt every day you won't hunt any more than i do.

I have run the Tatou's, ADB's and the TJD's on Rhinos and Grizzlies. Gotta have lots of power, at least a 600, gotta have an auto tranny, bypass any reverse rev limiters, I would use CVT filters to keep snow mist out of tranny, tracks throw alot of snow, some are just for snow, some will handle some dirt. Expect major loss in power, MPG and speed. They are a good all around vehicle, but will not replace a snow mobile. Great for in the spring when there is still large drifts yet open ground.

BEARCLAW, Its not my rhino its my buddies and i dont really know if he has problems with them or not. I just know that it has taking us some places you wouldnt think that we could get up. It seems to work pretty good in the powder at least has dont for us. We also have climbed our fair share of hills with it so its pretty much like a snowmobil. JMO

BEARCLAW, Have a Polaris 800 with the all terrain tracks. Hunted on it Saturday. It works well for Lion hunting in snow. I had a dog box, hauled 5 dogs, me and a buddy sat on front after we found a track. Expect some repairs. It works the machine hard to turn the tracks, uses lots of fuel. I can go 19 miles on a full tank and thats it. I travel about 15 mph while hunting, it will go faster but hard on my machine. It will go in fresh powder even if deep. Mine will not climb real steep hills without spinning out unless a crust or somethin in or on the snow. It makes my Polaris get hot. Have melted the plastic quite a bit. But all in all for Lion hunting it is my choice of trans. Saturday we had a Honda 4 wheeler, a sled and my Polaris with trax and the polaris was the best transportation. Good Luck Jeff

Which brand / model of tracks are you using?
19 miles per tanks is horrible mileage!
What can one expect to repair when using tracks?

bearclaw,,,, I am running tracks on my Honda 450 Forman. Running traps, and haul the dogs on a sled. Takes me where I need to go. Love them.
Gas milage is horrable, but ????????????

Gas milage is a big problem even though my 700 grizz. is fuel injected. I carry lots of extra fuel. On my old 660 all that wore out was both rear bearing and i changed them myself no problem, the machined didn't break i saw the wear in the spring when i went back to tires.I wouldn't go back to a sled for the cougar hunting i do.The atv has been in about 5ft. of snow and around here the cats aren't that hight.

THANKS FOR THE HELP GUYS. I HAVE A POLARIS FIVE HUNDRED THAT I WAS CONSIDERING PUTTING TRACKS ON. IT ALREADY HAS HORRIBLE GAS MILEAGE I CANT IMAGINE IT GETTING WORSE. SOUNDS LIKE IT MAY BE ON THE SHORT END OF THE POWER DEPARTMENT. MAYBE I WILL JUST INVEST MY TRACK MONEY INTO A NEWER SLED.
