So Im giving my " Spotted Pit" to my parents for Christmas since their Springer is on her last legs and they love her, and Im trying to find a new Bully dog to fill her place, but there seems to be a lack of intact males and when i find a nice one they ask way to much, like the lady who told me her Pitbull was worth $1000. So I was Curious as to how much ya'll have set your buying limits too, cause I need a general baseline for Hounds as well as prospect hog dogs.
Thanks
Btw, a wiseman on here once said never to pay more than $50-100 for a Pit, so Im wondering what that same man would say about a AmBulldog.

Question is how big the truck "load" is, lol.
Checked on some of the prices and they were in the 100's for pits, but those were from proven catch dog parents, so i grade dog would be in the $50 to free category I assume.
Didnt seen any exotics like Dogos or Canarios.

Let me clarify, I have grand plans of hunting hogs in Oregon, and to answer your question, yes there are still plenty of Hogs out here, not in Banks, lol, but definitly in southern oregon and out near Madras.
Im trying to pioneer Oregon hog hunting before I hit the service, that is if everything goes as planned, lol.

Not so much in Bend, but as you get into Madras at the top of the hill where the stockyards are there have been plenty sighted out there. A fella by the name of Tim Pittman on here can tell you about hunting them at that general location. There are also some sizable herds down in southern oregon, since they have been coming up from Cali. Also a few in the Far east oregon counties, but several populations have been exterminated.
Dont tell anyone but Im going raise some ferals and set them free around the corvallis area, the hippies took so well to turkeys destroying their roofs and yards that they will love the Hogs, lol.

$100 is pretty average for a bulldog around here. Get some free, most I will pay is about $150 and those were catching. Baydog prices will varry, just remember big price does not always equal big quality.
Dont go to the fancy "kennel" with the big name pedigrees and internet advertising to get a bull dog, go to the old trashy lookin place with dogs chained to broke down cars and sleeping under old camper shells and stuff. They wont want near as much and will have just as good if not better dogs.
Same goes for baydogs, go find some old fellow sitting on his porch in his overalls and chewing on a wad of Levi Garret. Hes the one you want to get a dog from. Not the ones advertising on the e-net with pictures of some fancy registered dog laying up on the couch in the house.
Give him a couple hundred bucks and he will hook you up.

well guess im going to have to drive around some of the more riskier neighborhoods i guess, cept for bay dogs, cause you basically describe me down to the T, especially with the Levi, that stuff is soo tasty.
Well I got my self to real nice bay dogs and both were free. I just need to get them interested in 'better' game.
But as far at catch dogs or guard dogs go, i guess ill have to search around a bit more, cause I aint paying over $100 for a bulldog and nothing over $50 for a pit, id pay a bit more if the dog was expected to be huge.
Do any of ya'll have experience with dogs other than bullys that make good catchers? such as plotts or curs?
