My pack of mixed up muts

Post by TomJr »

Just thought would toss up for consideration my pack of mixed up muts. This is what you get when you take free dogs  They catch bears, lions, bobcats, greyfox and alot of other critters, what most think of as trash  Only thing I don't let them run is deer because thats illegal here. I only hunt from my house and for fun... We have a small 10 acre orchard and the dogs main job is running bears off during the summer/fall. The other game is just for fun and to keep them in shape.

This is them on a bobcat tree earlier this month. My youngest dog (2 years this month) did the catching on this one.

He was barking treed while the old slower dogs was still trailing. 3 of my dogs are over 10... in thier younger days they have treed alot of cats though and they still do just fine on bears.

That big black dog in center is black lab mostly with a touch of rott 96 lbs. The brown dog in left corner is a pure lab. The white dog is mostly pointer 16 years old. The border callie looking dog had a lab mother... And my youngest dog is the one that looks like a walker but his father was a black lab.

The cat was just a small male... around 20lbs but then they average around 20-25lbs here, biggest ever was 34 lbs tom that was ripping off the door to the chicken house.

Haha I got a kick outta that! Thats cool, I say if its workin for what your doin go on with it and getcha some!!! :D Heck anyone can tree a cat with hounds, try doin it with a couple ten year old labs and your gettin something done! i gotta say i gotta laugh out of that but seriously I think thats neater then heck, musta kinda hit home with me cause it looks like something that would go on around this house!!! :D
The fascination of hunting cougar with hounds lies in the discovery and unravelling of a complicated trail, watching an honest hound strike out on a track that has been found and read, and finally bringing the animal to bay so that you can see it for yourself---Jerry A. Lewis

Sweet! Get the labs treeing and then they can retrieve the dead cat for you and deliver to hand! Now you need to give duck hunting a try with the hounds! Cool pics. Awesome

thats cool i gess u can get it done with just about any dog. i have seen guys use labs for pigs and says they r awesome dogs for that. he dosent even use a catch dog to knife them pigs the labs do it all.
we have a red nose pit that trees as hard or harder then some of my hounds. she is starting to be a good little coon dog. that makes a lot of the old timers laugh around here when they see her tree like hell.
