Axl, Rose, and Hank saying hi from Utah

Postby The Vise » Mon Jan 26, 2009 2:55 am

Hi to all! A few years back I seen a dude running a bobcat on the wasatch front in front of my mom's house in Provo and I have been fascinated with hounds ever since. I never before heard of such a thing as chasing cats and bears and so forth with dogs and it just looked so exciting. It was really the first time I ever took notice of a hound dog and I just thought they were so majestic looking. Just a couple years later I ended up getting a bluetick just for a pet and I have been reading this forum regularly ever since. Just in the last few months I have really got the itch to get out and actually figure out this sport and give my dog something to do. Last week I lost my dog and ended up finding him at the animal shelter. While I was there I just couldnt resist adopting a pretty little red hound I noticed while picking up Axl. All three of us just wanted to say hi!!!!

Hello vise and welcome again to the board. So how did you lose that hound, did you set it on a track? Anyway, glad you got that Axl dog of your's back. Running bobcats is for sure lots of fun but I like the warm, drier months of the spring, summer and fall when a guy has a chance to run both lion and bear. I've put up a link to my website so you can see some of the bears I've caught. That's a pretty redbone that you picked up and a good looking family you have as well.........

Take care and see you on the board..........

Thanks Ike. No I havent put the dogs on a track yet. I have had Axl for a few years but I have never trained him for handling so I have been working on that recently. He obeys all my commands pretty well now so I am gunna try him out on some drags pretty soon. I also picked up a four wheeler so I am gunna go out and look for some tracks and take pictures of it so I can get guys on the forum here to tell me if it is a lion track or not. I have studied the tracks on line but I still have never seen a real one so it will be exctiting just to hunt for one. I just moved into a new place and the kids left the gate open. Ax will usually wander around for a bit and then he always comes back if he gets out but I think he was confused because it was the first time he ever wandered away from this house. The police picked him up a week later. So glad I found him!!! Thanks for the kind words! Keep on keepin on!
