HUNTING NEAR UVALDE, TX

Postby nite hunter » Mon Feb 23, 2009 3:14 am

Me and a bunch of buddies are headed down from Colorado on our anual pig pilgrimage. We will be near Uvalde Feb 27th thru March 4th, I have bear & lion hounds and have even sent some of my dogs to Florida to hunt hogs. But have never went on a hog hunt with dogs. I would love to tag along If anyone hunts around that area. Of course I wont have any dogs with me (don't have any room) I just love to see trail dogs at work. Thanks in advance for your time.

Go to Tx-Outdoors.com and click on the outdoor forums. There are a lot of hog hunters on there from south tx. I will tell you it is extremely dry down there right now and has been pretty windy. If you stayed a little longer there is an annual cookout in Dilley, TX on March 7. There will be a lot of hog hunters there as well as cat and coyote hunters. It would be a pretty good chance to meet some local guys if you are planning on hunting down there some. It's not fancy, just a bunch of hunters sitting around BS'n. I wouldn't make a special trip for it but if your already close it may be something to do.

I am in Kerrville Texas but that is a bad time to try and find a hunt. That is the weekend of the annual Texas Dog Hunters Assoc "Feed the hungary hunt"

It is from Feb27th to March 1st.

Last year we rasied 20,000lbs of deboned fresh pork for the homless program with local minstries in Houston, TX.

This year our goal is to debone 30,000lbs of pork!

The contestants are competing to win for 1st place $3,000 and a set of 4 matching Gold buckles.

Needless to say there wont be many hunters sleeping that weekend and lots of pigs are gonna fall!!!

Longshot,

Send me some pics of the piles. I love to see them stacked like cord wood. If they are too graphic, you can email them to me. I'll keep them private.

Thank you in advance,
