jeep

Post by southerboy »

I have always hunted out of a truck, but for some reason I just bought a jeep wrangler rubicon.I only hunt 2 coon dogs at a time.So what kind of ideas do ya'll have for a box attached to the reciever hitch on the jeep?I really can't use a trailer cause most of the places I hunt are tight quarters on the roads.Any pictures, dimensions or drawing would be greatly appreciated.

i have a cj5, i when i had two hounds my plan was to build a box were the back seat was. its a soft top so i was going to have the doors of the box face out the back and get the top made to button around the box. then i made a swing rack for my spare and jeep cans..i dont know if this helps but that was my idea.... my fatherinlaw hunt a ford bronco and made a hitch mount that held two hounds (aluminum box) also might be easier

The rig my wife uses is a hitch hauler and a a box strapped to it. It works very good. I also use a hitch hauler and box as a crows nest off of my headache rack so I can carry two or three more dogs. I have a reaceaver tube welded on top of the headache rack so that the hitch hauler sticks out over the cab of the truck. I usually use a 55 gallon barrel for this small of a box.

Put a half cab on my rubicon, room for four dogs behind cab. With boatmans small truck two holer on top can haul six nicely.
