Bad luck got worse
I have lost two of my best female in one month. About three weeks ago my old black and tan somehow got out of her pen and ended up in the road. Witness say that the guy ran off the road to hit her. I can't prove it, so nothing much I can do. I haven't quite got over that and now this. Sunday my best walker female got into a fight with a stray cat. The cat lost and that was that,NOT. Monday she didn't eat which is crazy. So tuesday morning off to the vet we go. We gave her some shots and antibiotics, thought that would take care of it. I brought her home and put her in the house so I could keep an eye on her. This morning when I took her out to use the bathroom she fell over and couldn't get up. So back to the vet. Long story short she had CAT SCRATCH FEVER and died. How? Have any of you guys had this or know anything about it. Now I am devestated. My breeding program just took a turn for the worse. I only have a two young females left. What a bad, bad month!

Re: Bad luck got worse
Hi Tec, sorry to hear about your loss. 2 summers ago I had a the same luck. I lost 3 rig dogs in one month one was stole, one had a stroke, and one was killed my the neighbors pit bulls. That is when I moved and now live 15 miles out of town on 20 acres. I wasn't sure I would recover but looking back I didn't realy miss a beat. Dogs can be replaced and lost hunting days can be made up. good luck rebuilding.

i thought cat scratch fever was a ted nugent song--
never known a dog to die from a cat scratch
