Hello From Michigan

Post by Stanley »

Hello everyone, I go by and answer to STANLEY. Have lurked on this site for sometime. And enjoy all the dogs and knowledge here. I raise AIREDALE'S, for use on my trap line. I hunt bear in the western end of the great UP, behind PLOTT HOUNDS.

Emily, It's surprising what they add. They have found numous coons, that have pulled out. Muskrats that swim thru a 330 will, sometimes get threw out of the water with a broken back. They help me on trap location. Do you ever wonder why K-9's urinate in one spot in a open feild. And companionship. My dogs are 24" at the shoulder. A little smaller than the ones I read about, that they use out west for big game.

I have a friend locally that brings his majestic hound with him when he runs his trap lines, and sometimes his beagles. Sure is interesting what our dogs will show us if we pay attention to what they are saying!

The Plott's belong a good friend of mine, out of Rhinelander WI. And they have a lot of them. I've had one litter of Airedale pups, from a female prior to the one I have now. She had acident snd is in dog heaven now. I had planed on raising more, got another female, and male as pups. Different blood line. This Febuary my female got hit by a car. Broke her hip. We crated her for 6 weeks, It healed up and she shows no affects. But the x-rays showed that the birth canal was smaller and pups wouldn't pass through. So instead of lose a dog, we had her spaded. Oh well so is life. In a couple of years I'll get another female and see what happens.

Bear Lake, is that the Bear Lake off of M-72?

Emily, you are correct.

Hi Stanley

Do you ever get a chance to put the Airedales down on a bear track?

Hi Stanley and welcome to the site.

I'm from around the Baldwin area and run walkers on bear. Getting ready for kill season to start next week. I'll be heading to the west end of the U.P. also. Hope to spend about 5 weeks up there. We hunt Baraga and Bergland units.
