Re: New California Houndsmen group forming
There was just a fund raiser at the Elk Creek Field Trial with raffle that all went to the SPVF, CHC donated $ 500.and NCCH also donated $ 500. then Lori Jacobs worked her but off getting about another $1000. in donations, I don't know the finale $ yet but I do Know that by Friday we had already sold as many tickets as we had all week end last year, there is also the dinner on April 4th in Red Bluff that go's to the SPVF .

Re: New California Houndsmen group forming
I didn't want to do it but I'm gonna. Here are some direct quotes from John Kunkle, president of CHC to me:
" ...your recent self initiated representation as articulated in your
writings would have caused me to put you on notice for bringing dismay and
shedding an unprofessional light upon CHC as a whole. "
Judge for yourself. Read my articles in May and October 08 in Full Cry.
Here's another:
" In your challenging open (italicized) letter to CHC, you threaten
to drop your CHC membership if we, as an organization do not stop
subcribing to and supporting Bear Hunting Magazine. This was an
unfortunate challenge for you, Pete. According to our records, you
have not been a paid CHC member in good standing sicnce January
of 2009."
I know renewal notices cost money and CHC has a tight budget. But an
investment of a stamp, envelope, and 1 copy of a generic renewal notice isn't much to ask for. Read Bear Hunting Magazine, March 2009 and look at the crap they print. I live in California and was offended at the garbage that was written. Maybe I should run for CHC president after I reup my membership. I wouldn't let personal feelings get in the way of the only safety net, barely, that our way of life has. Maybe CHC shouldn't even send its' newsletter to members whose dues have expired. I know the editorial staff is made up of tremendous volunteers and I respect that. But the fact is we are fighting a war with a volunteer army against a much better funded, professional force. What is the budget of HSUS? Millions a year. We need to reach out to gun makers, gear manufacturers, Cabelas, the NRA, anyone that we spend our hard earned dollars with. I know that I have stirred up a hornets nest of controversy and have made enemies. But I will stand for everything I have said and hope that it the long run it can only ensure our way of life remains legal. Once again, if hunting with hounds is outlawed, will you be an outlaw? Animal right activists hate you and what you stand for. A fight is not a fight if you just stand there and get slapped. Hound hunting is a grand tradition in America that goes back to the founding of our great country. Look at Britain, it's no wonder they lost the Revolutionary War. They now run road kill fox dragged by a human. When our founding fathers wrote about "the pursuit of happiness" I have no doubt that more than few of them were thinking about fox hunting and their packs of hounds. I hope the target on my back is big as ever. Let me hear it or have it. In the future I will try not to rant and keep my posts constructive and pro-active. God Bless America

Re: New California Houndsmen group forming
I have been reading this post for some time now and I have kept out of it, but I would like to know.. What have you done for the CHC? I hear so many people talk of whats wrong with this club or that club. And what I would do if....... Its not if its when! What have you done? What are you willing to do right now, right this minute, and what are you willing to keep doing?
To start a new club and try to take away from the CHC and to spend all this time on here bashing each other and trying to pick fights is just what the antis want. You talk of trying to help our fight but all I can see from this is you are helping them. They want us and all sportmen to tear ourselves apart then they can sweep up whats left.

I would appreciate the courtesy of a reply to my points, Pete.
