Hello from Southern Arizona

Post by BluetickChick »

Hi All,

I'm a second generation Bluetick owner, who is finally getting around to introducing herself to the "hound" family. My Gramps was a hunter, breeder and writer of hunting stories. As a child, I hunted and trapped with him, and I helped in the socializing and naming of the many litters of his hounds. Our Stud, was "PR" Moe Mentum Evans, out of "PR" Docs Blue Bawling Magnum, and "PR" Vaughns Blue Fly. It was quite a few years after he passed that I, started "collecting" Blueticks from shelters. Being that I'm stuck in the city, my current Blueticks are pets, but I romantize the day that they could be the hunters that they are.

About 5 years ago, I picked up a couple Bluetick pups, said to be from Cameron bloodlines. One of them had nice short ears, and the other, long loose skinned type. Well, the long loose one, happened to be one of those chronic ear infection kinds, where you spend more time in the vets office, and more money than you have body parts to sell, for medication refills. I just couldn't do it anymore. The cost was outrageous and...I couldn't get the medication bottles @ $45/per two week supply, for any less money, or in larger lasting size. I said enough was enough. I had to so something.

I went to Gramp's dog records and pulled out the funky ear treatment recipe. I mixed some up and started treating his ears every day. After about 3 days, you could see noticible improvement. A month later, no problems what so ever. His ear treatment regimen is about every 3 days, since they run sooo wet. But talk about a miracle!! Gramp's tried and true recipe works, as it did then, it still does now.

I've started to bottle it and sell it on my website. If you have funky ear'd dogs, try it. It's also good to keep in the truck on hunts, to use as first aid. It will clear up all kinds of infection. I even use it on my kids for skinned knees and atheletes foot.

Well, I hope to meet you all some day on a good hunt!

Cheers,
Heather Hocker

Hi Zach,

The ingredients are: Isopropanol, Acetic Acid, Sassolite, and PVP-I. These are all ingredients that one can purchase over the counter in any grocery store/pharmacy. The Isopropanol is a drying ingredient, used in treating swimmers ear. The Acetic Acid is an antifungal. The Sassolite, is a drying ingredient with anti parasitic qualities. And the PVP-I, is an all around antiseptic. Funny thing too, I sprayed some on my 11/yo son's feet and it cleared the atheletes foot right up. I keep this as the go-to in my medicine cabinet and I'm the mother of the boys.

Sounds interesting. So it's a spray. Does it come in any other forms like a neosporin type creme? I'll have to try some one of these days. Bye the way what do you hunt down there in southern AZ?

The Mearicle is a liquid solution that you would flush into the ear canal, or, sqeeze onto a wound.

Pick something and you can hunt it here, from bear to squirrel, deer, javalina, turkey. We are at about 4500' elevation in town, and at the base of a nice mountain range. Only problem is, the public land is sooo interspersed with private, that it's hard to know which fence is what. When Gramps was alive, we used to lion hunt.
