I want one hound that can catch anything from coons to grizzley bears. I want him straight as a string, fast as a rocket, gritty as wolverine, and smart as a border collie. I want him 26" tall at the shoulder with a broad head, long ears, dark eyes, straight legs good muscles and tight feet. I want him to have a huge bawl on track and a jack hammer on the tree. I want him to be an easy keeper and never bark in the kennel or piss on the lawn. I want, I want, Iwant

What am I talking about I never get what I want? So I guess i will just be happy if the son of a gun can't talk and doesn't shake them sun glasses off I put on him from keeping him from going blind from the blinking neon lights in front of that honkey tonk when I am suppose to be out hunting. LOL!

Like many westerners, my hounds have to run a lion one day, a bobcat the next and whip a rough bear's azz and convince him to climb when the time comes. Therefore they pretty much have to be all round hounds; hounds that will pack and work together for a common goal!

well lets say you got combo dogs you run on bear and lion

you generally wont go on a lion hunt, and end up with a bear in a tree...you start dogs on tracks unless your free casting...dont see how your dogs could run something you dont know what it is anyway lol ...

Im just running hog dogs, so for most of hog guys us we dont wanna be running any coons, lions, bears or bobcats for the most part. Im free casting all the time with the exception of the catch dog. I wouldnt wanna dump a catch dog by accident on a lion bay. Its a completely different situation for the most of you. Im just speaking from the small hog dogger perspective.

I had a cur gyp one time that could catch coyotes during the day for me and tree coons all night long. She only ran one coyote at night and she caught the sumbitch and bayed it up in a creek. I dont think I will ever own another one like her. I dont think I want another one like her. Dont really know how she got so good. Probably cause I just didnt care back then.
