what lies ahead?
With all of the nonsense being spued out of these anit hunters, what do you guys think lies ahead? I guess what I'm realy asking is what do you think The future will have in store for hound hunting? Even people in my own family disapprove of it but I could care less i'll keep doing what i love. It seems like people are critisizing us when they have no facts. People ask why I force my dog to chase a poor Raccoon all around the woods. and tell me how cruel it is to the dog. Well right then I stop and think of something my daddy once told me "you cant argue with crazy" Any way what I mean by that little rant is how do we fight these people? excpasily the world we live in today. So guys what do you think the future will have in store? Happy hutin' to everyone, Jon McMillan.

Re: what lies ahead?
i hate to say it but coonhunting (unless action is taken) is gonna die out b4 too long. so thats why we've gotta start something or take action against our rivals. just stay clean and act right when youre in the woods and coonhunting will lie dormant. but i also know that coonhunting is actually a growing sport, so that might be a really really good thing. take a kid hunting, take sombody that never been and get him hooked. all of these things are all good things that anybody can do to protect our southern heritage.
they can take coonhunting when they take my guns and thatll be when they pry it from my dead hands.

Well first off you cant fight a battle of wits with unarmed men.
I to have many members of my wifes family that are anit hunting. Mostly due to the fact they have never been exposed to hunting in any way. I have found my best ammunition is to try and educate them to the truth. I have even been able to turn two of them from the darkside. Some people are a lost cause and are so far out they cant be enlightened. But I would say our best chance to win this war is to not just take a kid hunting, but try and get as many men, women and children in the woods as we can. We do need to start as soon as we can with the kids first. I have seen first hand how they are trying to push there anti hunting BS on our kids while they are at school. We must educate our own kids to push back when this happens.
My oldest daughter's class was being told some anti hunting BS by her teacher when she was in the 2nd or 3rd grade. She stopped her teacher and started to educate the teacher with real facts about hunting. I can tell you the teacher didnt try to pull that wool for the rest of the school year. We must stay on top of that. And go to our school board if the teachers try to push that crap in schools.

Re: what lies ahead?
people view opinons off nothing...i bet 3/4 of the people that are "Anti" coon hunting have never set a foot behind a pack of hounds, they jsut hear all the gargabe being thrown around about houndsmen being boogymen and slobs and they believe it. if people give me crap about running hounds, which some do, i invite them to come along, and if they refuse i tell them how close minded they are being. you have to try somthing to know what its all about

Jon if you are getting pushed that in your school you need to get your parents and all your pro hunting friends parents to go to your school board. Your teachers jobs are to teach you a set curriculum. If we as a country cant have or say god and the flag in our schools they cant push thier anti bs. Trust me I pushed this to our board and won, and I'm in California with all the Tree huggers and antis.

Re: what lies ahead?
I will take that up 'Livetohunt'. As far as I know (which is very little) Aren't certain states getting restictions on kill season or even no pursuit laws for certain game? IMO if we let these states get anything taken away it will just be the start. Who knows what these anti's are capable of doing, i mean they certainly do have power in numbers. So i guess we should start thinking towards the future... What do y'all think?

Yes they are and have been taking from us for many years in many states. Its started long ago. I would say one of the best things you can do is to find a club in your state that does not just do hunt's but fights for your rights. Also try and make sure when you see or hear these people that are so anit hunting you try and educate them. Offer to take them into the woods show them what its really like. The bigest thing I can say is you must make sure to keep your cool, tell them only the facts. To many time I have seen poeple get worked up and when its all said and done we as houndsmen look worse in everyones eyes. Alot of these anti hunters think we are dumb, uneducated, back wood people and that we are not capable of meeting there standards. They can't conceive the fact that there are many very well educated, and prominent members to our ranks.

Re: what lies ahead?
It's good see that we are trying to come up with solutions. In regards to that, I have herd talk about a National Houndsmen Association, what's the deal with that? I would love to be involved in something like that maybe to try and counter all the crap gettin thrown at us. if Any bodys got any ideas I would love to hear em...

Re: what lies ahead?
Yeah, if you saw the HSUS "Hound Hunting Fact Sheet" that Buddy posted in the Members only forum, and his suggestion was to make a Real Hound hunting fact sheet. I agree, like Buddy said, gets this out there so when people google hound hunting, this would be one of the 1st sites they see. The one from HSUS was typical anti hunter BS, very few if not any real, concrete data, just basically rumours, and hearsay type stuff, and quite a bit of the info they had was wrong to boot. I somewhat agree with a National Houndsmen Assocation, but I also think that every individual should be speaking out, and I know that has been a complaint with clubs and such is that most will just sit and watch, but you can't let that get you down. Those type of people are usually that last to help, if at all, and the 1st to sit and complain. All you can say to those people is, told ya so. If they won't get off their butt and do something to help their lifestyle, you would have to think they really are not that concerned with it, are they?? Most if not all governments offer e-mail alerts on their websites, maybe we could get links established on here, and post it in the states section, or legislative forum. So when people log on here, they will get fresh updates, and can take action. I hate to spoonfeed people info, as I said before, individual vigilance should be all we need, but face it, people are lazy, and strength in numbers is key.
I think it is a very scary, but at the same time exciting time in America, we may see the next great change in the history of the world, at least I think so anyway.
I think ya'all have had enough of my rambling,
