new england houndsmen?

Post by mainevet »

Hello my name is Brandon i am from Maine and have spent the last five years deploying back and fourth to iraq. i grew up in central maine and have killed several bears over bait, tried to trap em with no luck but thats that. my questions are is there any other houndsmen in maine or in new england that are nice enough to ask questions to problem is ive contatected several so called breeders and various houndsman in maine and they don't have much to say and are tightmouthed about anything to do with there dogs. i understand much of the reasoning is from them being guides and maybe feel as though i am intruding on there business? me and my brother just got done our tours of duty and are going to guide school next spring and i was hopeing to get a few good hounds my then without haveing to buy from out of new england but if thats what i have to do than so be it, but i spent my chilhood running cats and bears in the great vactionland state and am full of anticpation of getting back into it balls deep so if there is anyone from maine vermont or NH that have or are going to have any pups for sale it would be much appreciated. and one mre thing i can't seem to find much info about the maine coon cat and bear hunters association is it no longer around? whose fighting for maines hound hunting heritge? thank you for any and all posts. :)

Mainevet/ Brandon :from 1 vet to another Thanks for your service

I have a couple of thoughts and idea's for you and your brother. If you want to PM me I will try to help you out. There are a few good guys around ,BUT I have to tell you that there is a lot of JUNK hounds floating around the state of Maine .Trust me Been There Done That. PLEASE PLEASE If you can not hunt behind a hound do not even considering buying one . In the long run you will be better off.

The best advice I will give about Hound hunters RIGHTS would be to look up SAM : Sportsmans Allience of Maine . You may also want to check out Notheast Predators .com
