hello everyone on this great site. i just purchased a catahoula an really like the little monster for only being 7 weeks she sure seems to have no fear in her what so ever. i was curious how catahoulas doin treeing i plan to use her on coon but i will be walking her along field edeges an creek banks so the coon i want her to find an tree or catch will be very hot tracks. from what i read they are not top notch tree dogs but i also want a dog that will run a hot hog track if i ever get the chance to take her some where there are hogs or bobcat lion or maybe bear i know its alot to ask for but first an foremost she will be a everyday go any where i go copanion
i also hate feral cats an there seem to be alot where i live in north central indiana so she will not be discouraged from helping me wipe out every one i can around my place they put a real hurt on the phesant quail an rabbit around my house so if she runs feral cats will she also run bobcat or maybe mountain lion
again thanks for any info on what these dogs can do

In my opinion, catahoulas are among the most versatile hunting dogs out there. I think that their weakest link is in their treeing, but every one that I have tried to get to tree has treed very well with just a minimum of work getting them started. You take your new dog with you everywhere you go, all the time, and you'll be amazed how good that dog gets at reading your mind.

well everthing ive read arees with you that they are very versitile dogs but the vastmajority of my hunting will be coon but they r so thick around here that it should be no problem getting them on a really hot track so im guessing the ones she does tree she will be on top of them as they are trying to climb the treebroncobilly wrote:In my opinion, catahoulas are among the most versatile hunting dogs out there.
