Re: hunt cedar canyon ranch
Is this an add for someone charging to bring dogs in to hunt or is it someone that needs hog control done.
Somewhere I got lost on this one maybe I cant read but it would seem this is like an add for a place to run dogs at a price.
One of the best hog proof pastures I have ever seen was low fence. Like longshot said how high dont matter. Its like a good dog its all about the bottom.

Re: hunt cedar canyon ranch
My point was when I asked about the fence was can the hogs get out? Whats the purpose of even mentioning the fence in the first place? If its a "Canned" hunt then I wouldnt want anything to do with it. If its not a canned hunt then I appologise but if its one of those deals where the hogs are basically in an enclosure where they cant get out no matter how big than thats just plain stupid. I just read the website. The reason you dont need a licence is because they arent considered a feral hog. feral means "having returned to an untamed state from domestication". Since swine are not native to North America, any free-ranging hog is by definition feral. Basically means by definition that they are not wild and considered livestock. Places like that give hunting a bad name in my opinion. No fair chase, No escape. Not real hunting. Disagree if you want.

Re: hunt cedar canyon ranch
Hey bigboarstopper I'm not sure how the pig's are down in your neck of the woods but up here it really dont matter how tall or short a fence is you cant keep the wild hogs out. Or in if thats what they are trying to do. They are on the move 24/7 and if your fence is in they way it will not be for very long. We spend alot of money each year fixing what they rip up.
And killemallboy thanks for letting us all know about it. Looks like a good outfit and looks like they take some really nice hogs there.

Re: hunt cedar canyon ranch
your missing the point completely livetohunt. Its a game farm. The animals are bred there and kept inside. They are let loose insinde the fence where they cannot escape the property.(this fence was built purposley for keeping these animals inside). Thats why there is no licence to shoot them. they are fully contained bred and raised like livestock. Bronco, I was only using that fact that you dont need a licence as an example of my point. You dont need a hunting licence to kill livestock. The hogs at that property are in fact livestock. Theoretically and legally. They are not wild or ever have been. Nor have they escaped from any property and have become feral. They are just simply pigs in a large pen. Bronco, I bet the hogs you hunt arent inside an escape proof enclosure.

Re: hunt cedar canyon ranch
High fence, Low fence, Hot fence. It dont matter, if they want out or in you aint gonna stop'em, I have hunted a few of these high fence outfit's by me and fence or no fence, a good boar is a good boar, I myself dont like huntin with these canned hunt outfit's. But a buddy of mine has one goin on here in N.California and it's 700 acers of land in some real nasty country with some real nasty hogs, and it'll put the best dogs in the world to the test. So it comes down to this, to each there own, I've hunted the country your in Bigboarstoper and there's parts that are alittle harder then were we hunt up here, but on the other hand we have alittle hotter weather up here, so every place has it's ups and downs, and if you can have a place to go to run your dogs and catch hogs, that is a good place to be, and were Ryans huntin, is some real nasty, hot country, and those hogs are far from domestic. Thats just my point of view on that matter.
