Hunting balls...

Postby Ike » Sun Jun 21, 2009 11:22 pm

Ol' Labrum and I took our golf clubs out of hiding and played a couple rounds of golf in the past month. Yea, no crap! Just imagine two old hounddogger whacking at a golf ball and then going on a "hunt" for those little white things. He even brought along his camera the other day and got one of those buddy photos of us in front of a couple greens.

On a serious note we both did make a few powers (no birdies) and even hammered a drive or two along the way......well, not like the old days but not bad for a couple of hackers.

Ol' Forrest Gump claimed life is life a box of chocolates cause you just never know what you're gonna get. Well, golf is kinda like a box of chocolates as well......

If there is anything more frustrating than hounds it is golf. I play occasionaly and although I have never played enough to even get acceptable at the game at times I enjoy the scenery. ( Beleive me out where I play I get to see some wildlife too.) LOL! I expect some day I might even strike a lion track out there in the extreme reaches of the rough. O.B. LOL! I have flushed quail, pheasant, ducks, geese, rousted deer, fox, coyotes, in Moab some nasty rattlesnakes and in Houston some rather nasty copperheads as well. A friend of mine told me a very large tom lion ran across the fairway at Dalton Ranch course a few weeks back in broad daylight. I am afraid that would be more than I could handle. Yep spikes, plaid knickers, toilet lid Ben Hogan cap and all I would have had the peddle to the metal and I would have been on his butt swinging that old Taylor Made Burner for all I was worth! Now if I could have treed him that still might not have got me into the Tiger Woods category but to me when they say you can only top and Eagle with a hole in one I would say look up here and call this a Birdie. LOL!

I've played a few wild courses in my early years, but best we ever did was a rooster pheasant or a large mouth bass busting water. I guess I should have made a trip to New Mexico huh?

I can remember lots of good times and bad times on the golf course, but I put my clubs away in the late eighties and have only taken them out three or four times since. But that's gonna change, cause life is too short to not enjoy a round now and then Mike. At today's prices, I probably won't get very serious about it though....

Hit em straight Ike!

Life doesn't seem short when I am on the golf course it at times seems like a damn eternity. LOL!

Mostly my play these days is what you call customer golf. I have some that just insist on playing with their service providers occasionly. Lucky for me I have a couple of willing hackers on my team that are happy to jump in and fill a cart, and leave me to the more important duties of life like shoveling dog poop. LOL!

I work on a golf course and keep my kennels there also. I don't play much golf though but run my dogs every night and the course make a good area to train the dogs on. Except when the owners are making a course inspection and there's a dead kitty laying on the 13th green from the night before. :o My Red dog has become quite popular among the golfers and is on the brink of being the course mascot :D
