Re: Nevada Wildlife services accused of illegal lion shooting
The guy that wrote that, is complete LOONEY TUNES!
He got laid off and now he wants to get the program shut down. The guy went to the hospital on a workers comp claim, when a Rabbit that he was letting out of a trap scratched him...LMAO! What a dumbass!
If you believe any of the crap in those articles... I have some stuff to sell you! LOL!

Re: Nevada Wildlife services accused of illegal lion shooting
Wow you guys must work for the gov't too.....I thought anyone who lion hunted would be interested to know what could be going on with predator control at the govt level, illegally taking away legal hunting opportunities for honest people.
And by the way, what does letting a rabbit out of a trap have ANYTHING to do with lion hunting and the issues in this article? Any rabbit I've ever seen in a trap has been dead.....

Re: Nevada Wildlife services accused of illegal lion shooting
I didn't mean anything against you Derp. I do not work for the Government.
I know some of the guys mentioned in the article and know that they are stand up, honest guys. This is nothing more than a guy that couldn't hack it, being let go and having some sore feelings about it.
I mentioned the rabbit in the trap... so you could see what kind of a "Govt. Hunter" you're dealing with.
The guys I am referring to are great, dedicated lion hunters. Not just some guys that get paid to kill varmints.
Take care.

Mason,
Motive is an interesting thing......you say you know some of the guys mentioned in the case as stand up honest guys and Gary Strader is someone who couldn't hack it.....readers should be aware that you are good friends with the one of the pilots who admitted shooting lions from the plane and you have been trying to get hired by Wildlife Services yourself.
Did you know that Mr Strader received an award for the top predator control agent in the district last fall? Don't get those awards for being lazy and dishonest. If anything Mr Strader appears only to want those involved to face justice and consequences for their actions. Maybe the reason your friends are great hunters are that they bend/break the rules.......let the court system and pending investigation sort out the truth.....nuff said. My motive is to raise awareness of this issue for those interested.

Derp-
You don't have a clue who I know. I don't know any pilots with WS. I was thinking about getting on with the outfit, but have since made a different career move. Please don't pretend to know anything about me.
Keep bringing up the awareness and I'll keep laughing. I'll also make sure I get on here and laugh when the investigation proves to be nothing more than a witch hunt, started by an obvious friend of yours.
Take care.

Matter of fact I do work for the Government. And Like I said before it sounds to me like someone is just strirring the pot. And I will tell you why I say that, Alot of the stuff in those statements are very false as far as their accusations pertaining to the laws that they claim they have broken.
Many groups are making tons of accusations against Wild Life Severices, the biggest one is Wildearth Gaurdians they have tons of law suits agianst them and tons agianst the government pertaining to the hunting laws. For example the Wolf. They are the ones hanging up all of us hunting the wolf.
It is kind of funny to me that you come onto this site and make 3 posts and they are all 3 just to stir up the hunters against the government hunters. This is what Wildearth Gaurdians, peta and the humane soc. does and if I were Buddy I would check into you, Because that is what we don't need is some Idiot like you stirring up stuff between hunters and getting us all divided up.
And If you do work for Wildlife Services I don't think your District Superviser or State Superviser would be too happy with what you are trying to do here, (do you really think they can't find out who you are?) which is NO GOOD. And if this is true what they say they did it is up to the courts to convict them or prove them otherwise. You have already convicted them of something that is probably nothing more than Wildearth Gaurdian crazy accusations. Mason put it very nicely " Nothing more than a Witch Hunt"
Many of us know Daryl Fry and know he is a dog man and what dog man would rather shoot a lion from a plane rather than run his dogs on it?

Re: Nevada Wildlife services accused of illegal lion shooting
My name is Ron Eischens, Bemidji, MN.
I don't work for Wildlife Services, never have worked for wildlife services and don't have anything against them. There are always two sides to every story, just didn't want this one to be one sided. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
Let the investigation draw its own conclusions, the result of which, no matter what it is, won't change my opinion.

Re: Nevada Wildlife services accused of illegal lion shooting
I will save you the time, I don't work for USDA, I work for city government and know well how the "system" works. Only dealing with USDA I've had is related to forestry and wildlife planting projects I've done.
Why does anyone know anything about this issue? Cuz we are interested in its outcome or know someone who claims to know something about what "really" happened that's all.

Update on Nevada wildlife services illegal shooting of lions
Update.....for anyone that is interested but gives a person an idea of where this is headed. Mason and Devin this is for you too.
Federal Wildlife Agent Whistleblower Reinstated for Appeal
Judge Finds “Substantial Likelihood” Whistleblower Will Prevail in His Complaint
Washington , DC — A federal wildlife agent has been ordered back to work following his complaint that he had been fired for blowing the whistle on illegal cougar kills and other misconduct in the Wildlife Services program in Nevada, according to a ruling released today by Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER). Significantly, the back-to-work order from a judge of the U.S. Merit Systems Board (MSPB) was premised on a finding of “a substantial likelihood that the appellant [whistleblower] will prevail on the merits of the appeal”.
The whistleblower complaint was filed last month by Gary Strader, a professional hunter for U.S. Wildlife Services, contending that he had been abruptly discharged for reporting that his colleagues had illegally used government airplanes to hunt mountain lions in violation of both federal and state law. Strader works as a hunter and tracker, principally of coyotes, out of the agency’s Ely , Nevada office.
The June 24, 2009 ruling by MSPB Administrative Judge Craig Berg concluded that—
· Strader’s disclosures of wildlife violations were protected from retaliation under the Whistleblower Protection Act;
· There was convincing evidence that Strader was illegally fired in connection with his protected whistleblowing; and
· Wildlife Services had “not provided any evidence to corroborate [its] claim that a lack of funds was the reason it terminated” Strader
The ruling orders that Strader be temporarily re-instated while the matter is litigated and until the MSPB judge renders a decision on his appeal, a process that could take several months. Wildlife Services did not contest this stay order nor has it filed a substantive response to Strader’s complaint.
“This is welcome news for Gary, who will be getting a paycheck while he fights to be permanently restored,” stated PEER Staff Counsel Christine Erickson, who is assisting Salt Lake City attorney April Hollingsworth in the case. “Wildlife Services now bears the burden of proof to show that it had completely independent and legitimate grounds for taking this action.”
The case will come to hearing this summer unless new appointees of the Obama administration within the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the parent agency for Wildlife Services, decide to rescind Strader’s separation or otherwise settle the matter. How these new officials proceed in this case may provide clues on how whistleblowers that arise on President Obama’s watch will be treated.
