double merle leopards

just a heads up for those that are looking to buy a leopard cur or leopard hound, after doing a little homework i found out that the ukc will register leopards that are doube merle as well as pups from doubles. you can ask any real breeder of leopards if they will sale or give away any double merle pups no matter if they might be the best dog out of the litter and i bet they will tell you hell no. they know that no matter if that dog is seems normal, its genatics makes it a cull cause it will throw blind or deaf pups for sure. there is people out there trying to jump on the money train and will get rid of those pups in most cases they don't know about the problems with those pups but there are a few out there that just have the attitude of " Listen They are MY dogs to do with as I see fit. " so just watch out and make sure the person you get a leopard from has good breeding practices. the a.l.c.b.a. will only let you register pups from two dogs that has shown it can catch game on it's own without any help, the ukc will let you register pups from two dogs that look leopard.

I think norcal is just trying to give everyone thats looking into the new "hound" breed a heads up about consequences a double merle breeding could bring about. There was a civil thread on the UKC board about this.

yep just wanted to give the heads up to people looking to get into leopards. this fellow here just seems to think he is on to something that mcduffie overlooked lol. it is a bummer to see these douches mess up a breeding program that got them the dogs they have now. jmo
