Howdy,

Postby KCCH » Sat Jul 18, 2009 2:44 am

Hi guys,

I've been skulking about on this site for a few days now, and have really enjoyed the informative posts.
I'm a certifiable hunting enthusiast. I always try to get out for Spring Bear in the Oregon Coast range and Western Blacktail in the Fall. in the Summer I hunt Ling Cod and Rockfish.
Several years back our friends, the tree hugging bunny humpers here in Oregon helped our State to decide to put an end to hunting with Hounds ( I thought). A while back a new guy joined our Lodge, and I found out that he liked to hunt with Hounds. Naturally, I congradulated him on being one of the few lucky ones that ODFW uses to chase Bear. He laughed and said thoes aren't Bear dogs thoes are Coon dogs. About this time the clouds parted and I saw the light.
I have spent the last few months off and on leaning more about this branch of hunting. I can tell already this is something that would be very easy to do very poorly, and that just isn't me. In the next month or so I have some decisions to make that I'll have to live with, like the dog. I still have to decide on a breed and all the goodies that go with my new best hunting buddy. Thats where you come in; I read just about everything you write good or bad about your dogs. The dog I choose is a ten year commitment (unless he drowns trying to tree a Ling Cod).
So, I'll be in the background untill I'm ready to dive in.

Good Hunting,

Brian
Respectfully,

Brian

Welcome to the addiction!

10 years, no way!

If it takes it's a life long sentence!
