Well im not really a houndsmen technically. We run beagles on deer and thats my main focus right now as im in school and trying to by a house. Post house i will be looking to start building a multi purpose pack.
Deer is my main game but lately bear have really gotten my attention. Ive been lurking onand off for a few years but mostly there doesn't seem to be alot of beagle/deer info on here or anywhere for that matter.
looking forward to asken a buncha noob questions and hopefully aquiring a big hound in the not to distant future.

Hello and welcome to the addiction. When you do say its time to get your pack up and going just remember put away 3 times as much money as you think you will need, that might get you by for a few months. I at one time was really into deer hunting to, till I had a few good bear hunts now its all about Bear, cat and coon and soon to be fox. Where u from?

Hey live to hunt, give me a call whenever you are not busy. I just finished up a depredation deal and the guy who was also there had one of your red dogs and she was a female! I got some info for you and your buddy, talk to you later.
Oh, and good luck griz on hunting. My experience with hounds is very limited compared to some but I will say that when you want to get into bear hunting with hounds it is an addiction that can only be satisfied by more and more treed bears. I remember when I would catch one bear a year and then tried to catch two bears a year and then 10 bears a year and then 15 bears a year. I am like a junky the more I hunt the more I need to hunt even more! There is nothing like it. Training a puppy that you have raised and then catching bears with that pup all on his own when he is two or three is the best thing in the world. Have fun, that is the most important thing!!!
