Re: What are best for cats males or females?
I dont think she likes anything! I just had to post my thoughts above before, sometimes people get fixed on a certian breed or strain and they think they have the only hounds in the world that will hunt and thats the farthest thing from the truth, but what really got me is that someone on the bobcat forum is trying to promote competition type hounds not saying some dogs from those blood lines arent good cat dogs or could make good cat dogs but for the most part they are not traditionally bred for it, as for the sackett and finley river dogs they have had there paw so to speak in both the comp world and big game world however it depends on who is breeding these dogs and for what they are being used for, as with any other hounds for that matter. Enough about this on this thread, I personally prefer females, I just like there disposition better, and the way they react to me, sometimes me and my male dogs bump heads so to speak, to strong personalities colliding, but I would never get rid of my males, because like I said before aside from raw ability they both bring different abilities to the woods, hounds are pack animals and everyone has a place in the pack, now if you were a competition coon hunter this may be a more valued subject because, you are only hunting one hound at a time with other hounds that your dog typically isnt hunted with, and in this case I would have to say that if this was my sport I would go with a male, because there more aggressive in this enviroment, but as for any kind of big game hunting I want dogs that have the nose needed and the raw ability as well as a hound male or female that can fit into and work with the pack. Hello Jake
It is common Knowledge that females were put on earth strictly to make big strong males to catch bobcats. I hope this helps you with all of my scientific and fact based info.

I like the females 'cause when you pet their belly, there's nothing to watch out for. That is always my first reason. A close second is fights and peeing on things...all counter productive. A really great male is a really hard to find. I'm always looking for one for breeding but most every dog I have is a female. My most frustrationg problem right now is finding an extreamly high quality male. This is surely made harder with the fad of hunting females. It used to be that most folks hunted more males than females on the average.
