Re: HUGE Wisc. Bear
at first the story was that that bear was run over by a combine but then the real truth came out that it was shot illegally out of season by an out-of-state deerhunter.

Man Charged For Illegally Shooting Bear
Posted: 10:54 PM Feb 25, 2009
A man is now charged after investigators say he illegally shot a bear.
57-year-Michael Graff of West Fargo, North Dakota is charged with hunting bear during a closed season, shooting or harming a hibernating bear and shooting a bear without a license.
Investigators say a Boyceville farmer thought he hit and killed it with a combine last fall, but the DNR says the taxidermist found bullet holes in the hide. The DNR says Graff told them he mistook the huge bear for a big buck. Graff is set to be in court March 22nd.
If convicted, he could face up to 27 months in jail and $30,000 in fines.

Re: HUGE Wisc. Bear
Ok, the title says wisconson bear? was it killed in wisconson or dakota?? Second you have to be kidding me some body must have sowed some hides together and rapped them around a herford or somthing. How big is that sucker??
Re: HUGE Wisc. Bear
the bear was over 700lb live weight. it was shot inbetween neilsville and menomonie somewhere (which is about an hour east of the minneapolis/st. paul for those of you who arent familiar with the area).
apparently the guy was not aware that it takes many years to get a tag in wisconsin. he shot it, then ran to town thinking he could buy a tag over the counter!!! ooopsie...
