Dog Ordinance - Salt Lake City

I was asked by the Hound Club to post this information....

They said the Humane Society is attempting to get an ordinance passed in Salt Lake City that would make it illegal to have a dog on a chain.

I'll try to get more information but that sure doesn't sound good. Ugh!!

I seen that on t.v. They say they are trying to pass a law that will make it illegal for a dog to be on a chain for more than 8 hrs. That should be interesting

They passed that law here in Ca 2 years ago. States a dog can't be on a chain more than 8 hrs. Instead it must be on a run. The law doesnt state how long the run has to be. What people are doing to get around it is make a run 12 inches long and putting their dog on it. Seems to work as I have not heard anyone getting cited for it yet.

NOT ENTIRELY TRUE.

You can't have them tied out for more than 3 hours at a time.
Believe me I KNOW. I fought this thing tooth & nail to the bitter end.

Ole' Arnold signed it into law as one of the last bills he signed that year.

So the moral to the story is call your representives in you county and state and tell them to vote against it. Invite a few of them out to see your hounds on chains an how they are just fine. Right now its in Salt Lake County but they are pushing for all counties in Utah to follow!!!!!

They got us on the cruelty to animals law stiffining lets not let them beat us on this. Call and tell all your hound buddy's we have to do something about this quick!!!
