HUNTIN ALONE;

Well I live up near Sunrise Ski Resort in the White MOuntains but I don't think i would go down near phoenix. Its slightly hot. For me the highest temp ever is like 80 and we average 200 inches of snow a year. Plus my dogs are more of after bobcat, coyote, bear, lion, elk.

I prefer to hunt alone. It's just me the dogs and the wild. I see plenty of people in my job, so when I get my days off and can just "connect" it sure is nice. No money, no glory, no braggin rights. If I hunt alone, I somehow feel better at the end of the day, regardless of if I didn't catch anything.

When I got into this I heard said "The more people I meet the more I like my dogs". and with me its true. Haveing good company is O.K. But when I am by myself it's great my dogs hunt the way I want and I don't have to care about what another guy thinks. There is just somthing great about being out and about in the early morning and seeing that first light peak over the horizon and taking a moment to enjoy it by yourselfy/

I hunt by my self 99 % of the time. Be it hound hunting or bowhunting. I've always said most people don't hunt by there self cause they don't like the company. Mark

and the reasons a guy does, or dont hunt by himself
sure i like to mix it up and hell i've been known to drink by myself haha..i never really took no one huntin with and myself besides ol zach but we'd take his little brother when we could put up with him LOL

as long as i can hear a dog burn a hot track i dont care who's around, or aint..for me this hound deal is all about takin a pup and helpin him to do what you want him to..that first sucessful hunt makes it all worth while in my eyes..dont need to kill everything that runs..most times i wont even bring my shotgun.just the dog, a can of copenhagen and some rabbits is all i need to hunt!

I hunt mainly with my best friend and my son's. My wife goes alot to, but we have the two year old daughter now so that kinda limits her goin. But I like huntin with family more then huntin with other guys and there dogs, it alway ends up the same way, in an argument over somthing.

I have one case where it actually cost me getting a tom I had been after for some time. I was running a canyon while my buddy was at the truck with the dogs, and we only had one snowmobile. It had just snowed several feet of really powdery stuff, and I didn't have the big sled I have now. I didn't find the track till I got way back in the back end of this canyon, so on the way out I looked up into the crossings and scrape points I knew from hunting in there withmy binoculars. This cat had been to every one of them, and went into the next canyon which was a long drive around due to private property. I couldn't even make it to the track with the sled I had, and the only way to get after him was to wade through the snow and start him at one of the lowest spots he travelled, and go back after my buddy. Rather than try to load up my dogs, start the track, come back for him and his dogs and have to hike him in with me after my dogs were long gone, I just opted to come back after him when the snow set up. Guess what, he never came back.

I would rather hunt alone and most times do. No bitching about being tired, what's your dogs doing, it's hot, it's cold, I'm hungry, my wife this, my wife that.... My wife knows not to call anyone if I don't return home that night. The next day she has the number of two of my best friends and she contacts them. They know the freq. to the collar that I carry in my pack and can hunt me down. If they can't find me then she can call S&R. Now, I do enjoy when my wife goes because she is really interested in bear hunting and actually helps me locate my dogs when I loose them. My 8 year old daughter will be hunting with me this year so I am excited about that but, other than that I would rather it just be me and my dogs.
