Bear Season OPEN!!!!!!!!!!!!

NC opened on Monday we were in the woods looking at 0600 and found one at 0730 got everyone where they needed to be by 0815 and turned the hounds loose. Had a good race just over a hour and I was the luckly one to the tree( 1st bear season 1st day 1st tree) Found a rock cliff that I managed to falloff of twice got tto the tree 6 dogs there and another 7 on a second bear race. Got off one good shot I thought( found out later that I hit it in the leg)Bear fellout of the tree into a great brawl with the dogs then hit 5th gear and was gone they found the dogs retreed 2 hollers over and a 10 year old kid got to walk into the tree and get his 1st bear. As I rethink yesterday kind of glad that I didnt make a great shot and that a good kid got his 1st bear.

Today wasnt as good got a race started at 0745 about a hour and half later once again I was 1st to the tree to find that it was a slick tree O well they will happen once in a awhile funny thing every dog but 2 were there( 14 at the tree) what I nice walk out that made.

We started at around 6 monday and had a bear on the ground at around 9. it was only 162lbs but it was pretty good for opening day in the NC mtns.

we hunt on N.C. 105 that connects burke county and avery counties in north carolina.

Thats not far from us we hunt mostly Mitchell....got a 162 today only 45 minute race...treed in a 4 inch round pine tree... Well good luck to you all Im headed to bed
