We had a nice training session today, had mean walking bear on the ground for 8 hour's before I could pull the last dog's off. Most of the pups got in on it for awile. We saw him cross one road and than he crossed again right by the truck. We got a neat video of him crossing by the truck, one of my 11 year old twin's was standing by the truck and he was pretty nervous for a minute.LOL

Nice going ! Excellent video !! Ohhh, that brings back memories.Chasing down a dog thats doing a great job and yelling "NO " at him so you can go home .Thats a classic. I've played that game before.

A few weeks from now and I bet that scene would be ending differently wouldnt it ??? !!!!

You're darn right Borderpond,I'm not to proud to dump one in the road,as you know alot of them end up in crap holes way out in the wood's.I look at these as a gift.LOL
Thank's Randy I'm sure we will run into each other sooner or latter.Keep working at it it will come.

Spruce Mountain, the area I guided in downeast was perfect for that kind of dumping ! Real thick country with a decent road network. My partner Tobey and I would be driving like NASCAR drivers trying to get to good crossings with the hunters.Kind of like rabbit hunting on steroids ! There were areas there between roads that were so thick there wasnt a tree big enough for a bear to climb. Some of my best memories up there were the ones where I was standing side by side with a hunter, gun to his shoulder, just waiting for the bear to pop out and me to give him the word. We dropped several where we just backed the truck up and dropped the tailgate to load them. Too proud to shoot one on the run ? Not me !!

I know what you mean about the thicket's down east,I ran down around Calis for a year back in the 80,s.Nothing but spruce and fir thicket's and swamp's.It made me realy apreciate our hardwood ridges but we don't have many of them left any more. Now where I hunt remind's me alot of that.

Jeeez Spruce, hope you didnt break that dog by yelling " no "at him ! LOL I wouldnt lose any sleep over it though. I have a feeling if he was on that bear for 8 hrs the "no" probably didnt bother him too much did it ? LOL

You have many hunters booked ? I have talked to several guys lately who have had alot of last minute cancels. That sucks.

I think he will be alright,he's 7 years old and his farther is 11 and the only way to get them off a bear is to tackle them, there used to it.LOL I have about the same amount of hunters that I had last year. With the amount off people I talked to this year I should have more but I guess I'm lucky to get what I did with the econemy the way it is.No cancelation's so far.
