Re: Foot Care
Where do you get the coppertox? I looked at my feed store for it and they didn't carry it. They had all kinds of crap but not coppertox..
Thanks

Re: Foot Care
I found a product today at the feed store called Koppertox, with a K, and I assume that is the product people are talking about. It was around $17 bucks a bottle. I did not buy it, however, until I was sure it was the right stuff. I did buy a can of that Pine Tar that az_gogetem recommended and put some on a couple dogs tonight to see what it looked like in the morning. The stuff looks pretty thick and gummy and may well hold up and only time will tell.
Thanks for the input everyone!

Re: Foot Care
Hey do you just paint it on the pads? Like painting a fence? Or do you try to get it in between the toes also? How often do you apply?
Thanks for the help..

If your dog is prone to blowing pads or wearing them down I would start early and put a little on every night if not I would do like Dewain said

Re: Foot Care
Mr.Ingram whats the verdict how are those hounds lookin? I'd be interested to see how well the other stuff works all I've ever used is the pine tar. Was told it was the best by an old lion hunter a long time ago never bothered tryin something else.

Re: Foot Care
az_gogetem,
I did go get a can of that pine tar and a bottle of the Koppertox as well. I've applied the Koppertox a couple nights this week and will switch to the Pine Tar the evening before I load dogs to hunt. The guys I know with tags are working during the week, and can only hunt on weekends. Therefore, Ol' Ike is doing the same thing.
None of my dogs ever got sore footed, nor are they now, but several have worn through the pads a bit on the tips of their toes and I was looking for something to stop them from wearing or pealing any further. If any product works at this point I'll be sure and post up...........
So have you been after any of those lions yet or just playing with the bears az? Hope all is going well and stay in touch.........

Re: Foot Care
Don't know about on dogs but from a horse shoers stand point it really takes the soreness out of their feet. Haven't tried it but then again haven't had to, thankfully my dogs all have good feet under them. Not saying a few good hard races wouldn't call for some treatment but not yet.
