Wolves and beeper collars?

Post by Liz ODell »

This is just a thought and question for people in wolf country. I have never been into bird dogs and don't know too much about beeper collars but was watching a woodcock hunting video and was impressed by all the loud crazy noises those dogs beeper collars can make. I know that people bell their dogs to try and help keep wolves away but has anyone tried beeper collars? I guess you can attach a beeper to a tracking collar. I wonder if the folks that make beeper collars could put any sound you wanted on them if they had enough interest? I would think if thats possible you could even mix a human voice on there - the dogs would get used to it quick and not think it was you. Just a thought.

That human voice deal could come in handy! I would have mine say "STOP CHASING THAT MOOSE OR IM GONNA KICK YOUR !@#%! WHEN I GET AHOLD OF YOU!!!"

But in all seriousness, I think when they decide there gonna start rippin dogs apart it takes something more then a little noise to stop them...........like a shot through the guts with a small caliber for instance?!?
The fascination of hunting cougar with hounds lies in the discovery and unravelling of a complicated trail, watching an honest hound strike out on a track that has been found and read, and finally bringing the animal to bay so that you can see it for yourself---Jerry A. Lewis
