About a quarter till 8:00 a.m., Jimmy struck a track and was covered by his littermate almost immediately. They trailed about a half mile over 15 minutes or so, crossing a two washes and then up on the side of a hill. When they got on the side of the hill, it was a little more open and Jimmy got the critter jumped. They crossed a netwire fence and went west into the next pasture. I had to circle around the north end to get through a gate into the pasture where the dogs went. When I got in the pasture, I listened for the two blues but they were out of hearing. I pulled out my tracker and found that they were south of me along a big draw. I drove closer to them and I could hear them treeing. I dumped Daisy who I had loaded while the dogs were trailing and she went in and was treeing really hard as well. When I arrived at the tree, Lizzie was about half way up in the live oak that was on the edge of a short bluff. The cat really was looking for a place to go with Lizzie and a redneck getting too close but Daisy had his escape blocked. I shot him out with my Browning Buckmark.
Adios,
Gary

Gary,
Great Story!
Mr. J. Martin called Thursday and had a long talk with Dad about Hounds! If he reads this he will be back at your house trying to talk you out of the two Blues!
Treed one Thursday morning with the two old bitches and 4- 7 month old Pups. Pups ran the hell out of him, so much so that Dad thought they might have switched to a Sissoring, but they made a loose and ole Queen thumped right up the track and straightend the loose out and the Race was back on. The Pups have to learn not to out run their nose, but that is what they are doing, learning!
Hipshooter is here with us for a few days, learning about the Garmin Astro 220 and sampling some "Cathound Opry". dad took him down to glens last night and they ran two. Have not had a detailed report yet as the Hunters are still sleeping!

Are you still down in FL? Sounds like the old lady and pups did one heck of a good job. I like to hear 10-20 dogs run a cat from time to time but a guy really has to appreciate it when you can take two old dogs and a couple of pups and catch a cat on dry ground. I may be wrong, but I think that is the ultimate test of a dog's tracking ability. They are about to wind up the UKC World Hunt this evening. If you could get one of those treeing fools to run a cat, I wonder what his/her chances of catching one would be. I bet it would about the same as Obama straightening out healthcare.

Gary,
You nailed it obout one of the Competition Treedogs catching a Bobcat!
We are in AR till next Saturday. Have had our County Fair going on and have been tied up with the Daughter and her projects. She had the Reserve Champion Breeding Doe Rabbit and the Reserve Champion commercial Doe Goat as well as numerous artsie fartsie projects!
Dad just got up and gave me a report on last night. they ran the 1st cat over an hour and Glen discovered that he had 15 Treedogs as the Cat went up a leaning tree then 30ft up a vertical limb! They jumped him out and and put him up a big tree and had to leave hime. Running Dogs will tree and tree good once they learn to look up after they determine the track has ended.
The second Cat gave Hipshooter a taste of the Big Bad Briar Clearcuts they ran hell out of him then he got a jump by running the roads, hounds got back under him and put enough heat under him to put him up a Tree. Hounds failed to locate this time.
We are going tonight with Hipshooters Hounds tonight! Will update you and the rest of the folkes tomorrow!
So long!
