This week ends cat tree.
This week ends cat tree.
I spent the last two days watching the rain just dump. This morning I figured if I was going to get the dogs out I was going to have to brave the weather. I started rigging around daylight, and nothing it was dumping the rain. Around 9am they finally struck off the box. I dumped the tail gate and they cold trailed for about two and a half hours. They finally jumped this cat, he made a couple loops and then lined out. In about a half hour they had him up. I hiked all the way to the tree to find out they were about 200 yards from a road. I left the dogs and hiked back to the truck and drove around to them. The cat was about 60 ft a second growth doug fir. I got them lined out in time to lay them up again for a month. Oh well maybe I will tree this guy again this winter.

Great Strory.........Great Pics.........Great Hounds!
Don't it break your heart when you find that road just the other side of the tree or catch!
Dad has sent me in for retrieves into some bad swamps 400yds or more off the road, only to find a firelane or haul road just the other side of the action!
Keep telling all of us of your Hunts! You might give us some insights into your Rigging style and success ratio of strikes to jumps.

Hey Andy "Page" was turned in on the strike and wasted no time getting off the road. She got screwed up when she reach the bottom of the canyon, the cat apparently was feeding and had made a feeding loop. I think thats what screwed her upat first. But she lined it out and caught up to the BIG dogs. Of course when they finally made the jump she fell behind some, but she was at the tree when I got there. I would of posted a pic of her but as you can see my camera isn't taking good pics. When I went back to the truck and drove around I convensed my photographer, my wife, to come into the tree. I guess when they were thought to be in a hell hole I was on my own. Anyways Page did great for her second hunt and and has made it to the tree both times, not bad for 5.5 months old.
